Hiya Alan i sold my 3300 space cab. i would let you have a drive if only you had asked.
my old DAF was on E bay at christmas time i have no idea if she sold or not.
if you get john to let us have his old DAF maybe a couple of weeks with some T cut and some tender love and care we could run his DAF around…or maybe NOT…cheers have a good year(not a tyre)

Greetings,All.The Bulk feed lorry could be an Albion owing to the long door. The LAD cab Comet had a short door. Also, the silencer looks like an Albion one.Hope this helps.Regards,900x20. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Hi Isn’t this a LAD Comet with long doors?

I think that it’s a Beaver.

Looks like a Beaver to me same as the one we had at Crows transport Gateshead Regards crowbar

Hello again, heres some more stuff from me,Cheers Bubbs,

…and the leftover seat fabric made a nice pair o’keks.

But the nuts got stuck in his teeth.

Heres the rest of the ad…

I’ve never seen a Comet/Super Comet with long doors, plenty of Bevers, Badgers & Albions and I spent alot of time in them all as a young boy, the only other LAD Cab with short doors was the Dodge, which I also spent alot of time in riding shotgun. so unless someone can come up with a clear picture, like the elusive 8 pot Guy, I see no reason to think otherwise.

I have never seen a Comet with long doors either, The one I drove in the 60s a D reg was defo short doors, Regards Larry.

I’ll back you all the way there Larry, the LAD Comet was never offered with what was the heavier, long door’d, cab as fitted to the Beaver,Badger and the Albions. If you had wanted a “long door’d” version of the LAD cab why bother with a 375/400 engine surely you’d go for the 600 or possibly the PP680.The whole idea of the Comet was to offer the lightest chassis possible to operate (with a 4 in-line ugh!) at 24 ton GVW.Just my idea, but maybe we could add the “long door” Comet and have a “double” bet with a photo of the 8 Pot Big J !!!Cheers Dennis.

The original vehicle in question was a four wheeler bulk blower it wouldn’t make sense for it to be a heavy duty beaver or badger with a 600/680. The exhaust silencer on that motor says 375/400 engine to me and the front wheels look like 8 studs to me ? If not for the Leyland badge I would have said Chieftan and no not the tank variety

hi there the bradfords bulker i think is a albion the diesel tank is albion the leylands had a different tank the answer could be it was fitted whith a leyland 400 diesel engine around the 1960s the lad cab dodge could have leyland engine they had a leyland badge like the one on the back of the albion hope this is the answer neil b

Hi Marc thought these may be of intrest!!

Hello,lets try now.

another of brian heals cracking motors loaded with lime for port talbot by the look of it.

Well that didnt go too bad, tinypic have made resizing very difficult, they put 2 words which you have to copy…thats ok but now they blur them so o’s,and e’s and s’s look the same ,this means that a faliure happens, this becomes a right ballache and very frustrating, anyway these were the shots that should have gone on yesterday.
Cheers Bubbs,

Aye but yer right lol
regards dave.

Great photo of Harding’s of frome, used to deliver into the Cold Store in the 1990’s -cheese from n.ireland. The fleet then was Leyland Roadtrain’s[Interstates] and Scania 113’s all very tidy. Missed them on the road for a few years but see them in Grocott’s Whitchurch with a new Iveco, is this the only truck they run now and do they still have Wessex Cold Store.
