Greetings All. The Bicester 401 could have been an old Esso unit, going by the colour and Fleet number. Regards,900x20.

That last picture looks as though the concrete beam is bending in the middle, and what a length!!
Take it easy,
David
I think you will find that is another lorry, the angle of the photo is confusing.
A few showmans’ lorries I photographed around 1991 in Northampton.
PBN 256H
Date of Liability 01 05 2013
Date of First Registration 02 02 1970
That’s what I like to see.
Does anyone know what these containers were used for. They were in the BRS Reading depot in 1960, I think new and put on the trailers for storage. The wheels on the left trailer look like very old spokes. Could they be for grain or potatoes although I don’t remember BRS hauling either in those days? Peter

hello, im new on hear but i think they are potatoe bulkers because we were leading tates from Lincoln to Walkers at liecester in the 70s with artics with conveyers in the bottom. They broke motor shafts when to many boards were left out on start up
Someone will no doubt correct me, but they look very like Tamplin demountable bulk bodies.

Weren’t the Tamplin bodies more V shaped like this?
My old man had a Tamplin demountable on a Seddon and it was like the two in the first pics, it had an auger in the centre driven by a little Briggs and Stratten engine and was used for grain etc. Sayers of Newbury had some at the same time but I believe their’s were tipper’s.
Pete.

Is this the type you mean? Part of a trial with BRS and BR moving sugar beet.
Hey up Bubbleman this is Buzzer here from Davies International, Southampton. I just wondered if you had any record of one of the first trucks i ran which waa an Albion super
clydesdale 16 ton rigid, the number was MYD 809 E , I only thought to run this by you as it is a Somerset reg number and you might just have come across it in your vast record or if any one else knows any history.I ran it out of Cornwall for Richard Benney in the early seventies and i have no pictures of the old girl but she drove really nice, i think she had a 401 leyland engine . Any info would bring back a load of memories regards Buzzer.
Here we go again Bubbs, little grey cells!! Peter Baulch, Chard and Axminster, did he not throw his teddy out of his cot over some problem when he became a Renault Trucks service point, (but used it as a cheap way if running his fleet), back in the 80s. I remember meeting him in France, and being struck by the fact that he was wearing the identical shoes to the pair that, (many years before) I had got married in!!! Told you these old pictures bring back the memories!! Cheerio for now.
Hello lads, me again…Buzzer, your Albion sounds nice mate,I cant recall having a shot of it but now I have a registration then I can keep it in mind.Saviem…I too met Peter Baulch,I turned up unannounced at his yard asking to take a few pictures,he was a bit confused and wary but could see I was a harmless idiot so let me loose to take some photos,as I did he kept an eye on me.When I went to thank him for his trouble he led me into his office and opened a drawer which was crammed full of company photos…Chard/Axminster tpt was a real favorite livery so I had a great time going through them,in fact he gave me a handfull to take away (which I still have).I got back to the car to get the biggest bollocking off Mrs Bubbs…I’d spent 2 hours in there leaving her on her jack in boiling hot sunshine, worth it though cos I got my pics
Heres todays stuff,Cheers Bubbs,
I bet that Ashton Sawmills trailer was a lot of fun to shoot in the air on a windy day, throwing a sheet over it would be challenging too
Can someone tell me what make this lorry is? I thought it was a Thorneycroft but the side windows and the rad. look wrong compared to the other 3 pictures below. And it’s not quite like the Maudslay cab either.
