These bits of twig look like Kauri trees, native to New Zealand where there is a magnificent kauri wood museum. The photos depict scenes typical of those exhibited in the museum. New Zealand exported many thousands of cubic feet of Kauri wood used for house building and ships masts etc in the 19th and early 20th century.
