Looking to get off the Monday - Friday tramping for a shift pattern that gives you a little bit of your life back.
Can anyone give some company names that offer such shift patterns? Anywhere an hour and bit radius from Glasgow.
Cheers

Aye bit of a messed up week that, you would have thought a rolling 4on4off rota would have made more sense if they are wanting weekend work

This ‘tramping’ thing has just got to be the worst term ever…images of a dirty unwashed tramp begging on the st corner come to mind Wherever did it originate from
4 on 4 off, Dnata, WFS and Swissport
All have depots at major airports though out the British Isles, all offer 4 on 4 off, one week days the other nights
Coulthards do 4 on 4 off.

Can’t say it’s something I’ve ever thought about.
Nights out required then…

Will have a look, can’t say I know of them.
Coulthards do 4o4o I’m sure. Seem to have decent kit too, spoke to one driver who had a kitted out Topline, said they leave you alone to get on with it no pressure. Didn’t mention the wages.

Like many road transport terms, it has its origins in merchant shipping.

I don’t think any of the above have Glasgow (or Edinburgh) based drivers. The Swissport shed and office at Glasgow are still there but all road transport has been done by Circle Express for a while now.
Saints have a Glasgow base at the airport and their nightshift do 4 on 4 off. Things are pretty quiet recently though and not sure if they are taking on drivers. If they are, it usually means first night to Heathrow; 2 nights wherever out of Heathrow; 4th night back to Glasgow. Accommodation is in rooms (aka The Jail!) at the Heathrow yard as units are used by day shift. They do a lot of Manchester change-overs too.

4 on 4 off night tramping two trips to tesco rdc London area. £415 clear a week salary
Tramping was a term used when you went out Sunday /Monday delivered your load and then finding loads to where ever you could, having as many nights out as it took.Loading back to somewhere near home or passing through on Thursday /Friday.
Nothing like trunking to regular day/nights scheduled RDC`s or other depots, the only Company I knew who does or did Tramping /trunking is UPS but that was to Depot or Customer Supply

Not as bad as Turners 4on 4off. Smelly old trucks and paid for actual days worked not guaranteed salary. Lucky to clear 300 a lot of the time.
