Was a downill with a bend, very wide and open, sat on cruise control at 39 and it held at 42/43 then round the bend and there he was. How borked am I?
Police Scotland may have a 10%+2 tolerance, according to this: UK speed camera tolerances revealed - Confused.com
So, assuming you were in a 40 zone, you may not be “borked” at all.
I’ll find out in a couple weeks
Camera vans are a bit like breathylysers, both good things if used in the correct way they were originally intended for.
Thing is they have both been adapted for almost a priority, revenue raising, although it will never be admitted.
If the o/p was teararsing round that bend jumping the limiter, yeah fair enough potential danger to other road users…
2 mph over the speed limit ?..or even the 10% +2, or 46 mph if my (usually appaling) maths are correct, …no dramas, no dangers.
But still a few quid raised if they nick him so win win.
Drink driving…totally wrong end of.
But the idea was driving …whilst pi55ed.!
Some clowns are advocating for absolute zero, (presumably because they have swallowed the purposely catalogued statistics to advocate it)
So if you have had a pint the night before and a slight trace of that pint is still in your system, you are banned…although anybody with a modicum of logic and common sense,.(and who have not swallowed the b/s) knows you are perfectly fine to drive.
Even the present Scottish limits are too low imo.
Revenue rules ok.
Im sure someone else will confirm, but iirc police Scotland don’t use the 2mph +/- ?% guidance and prosecute anyone who goes over the limit
A month back I was chatting to a retired traffic cop and there is no leeway margin on patrol cars, the topic arose when I asked him about the 20mph limits(towns and villages) 1mph over nicked but then again at the discretion of the individual officer. With cameras it was 10% + 2mph probably still is.
It’s a limit not a target !!!(somebody had to say it)
It’s a lot of years ago but our local cop station had a list on the wall of speed tolerance , didn’t help me as I was 70 mph in a 60 mph limit , but tolerances definitely did exist
Saying that there was a lad on my speed awareness course at Lincoln who said he was done for 33 in a 30
In France there is a tolerance of, I think, 4 km/hr ‘to allow for inaccurate cameras’ and as a result of that and the fact that a speedo shows slower than a satnav, I always set my cruise at 53 in a 50 for example.
