Hi, in the scannia bed there is a net that pulls up and clips to the top bunk, what is the purpose of this?? Is it simply to stop driver rolling out cos I didn’t think that anyone could role put… Lol
I thought it was there to stop the second driver rolling out.
Also it’s handy to stop stuff rolling off if it’s stored on the bunk

That’s what I thought. There’s one for top and bottom bunk but like u say must be to stop things coming off bed when driving
It’s too stopp the other driver coming off the bed under harsh breaking and going though the screen, as legend has it exactly that happened once

So you’re allowed to sleep on bed whilst truck is moving?
Yep
Really? How do you wear a seat belt in bed?

I suggest you read your post again and you may actually see you’ve just answered your own question
So its not legal to sleep on the bed whilst the whilst the truck is moving… But you just you can. The law states everyone in a vehicle must wear a seat belt when moving.
The bed has restraints, that’s the whole point of this topic. As as far as I’m aware you can legally sleep in a truck, coach etc while moving. As long as the bunk has restraints. You’re not gonna come out of a bunk with the net up that’s for sure.

If you’re the only driver, certainly not :d
But it dont count as daily rest

Going back to the early 90’s when I worked for Fed Ex we had the Yamaha keyboard contract, I never worked on it myself but they did double man the DAF rigids (most pulled drags), this was due to the heavy work with some piano’s. Driver’s could stretch out the working day by one of them spending time on the bed (supposedly) although I doubt any actually slept on it when moving. We have team trucks here for fast long haul work which basically mean apart from tuel stops they can run 24/7 with each driver spending 10 hours in the bunk. I actually only ever trusted one man to drive as I slept and that was James Thompson, known on here as ‘James’ or later ‘James 1’ … we may have had differences but I could’t sleep in thet bunk with anyone else driving.

It’s ok, I can sleep fine without it needing to be daily rest
