Scania T Cabs

Now I think of it, I am certain (ish) I have seen a 4 wheeler with skip gear.

That would have to be the most useless vehicle ever, my little 4 wheeler Iveco was great for skips as it was about the size of a unit and could squeeze in anywhere.

coca-cola outside belfast have a t-cab rigid .

ask kindle 530. he is your man. he loves em

A few weeks ago I read that the last new one for the UK has been sold. I forget who the operator is, but I believe they are based in Wales.

they have (or will) stopped producing them due to lack of demand

John Toulson runs one of the biggest fleets on them on bulk work.

see this one at the Barnard Castle show last year.

wirralpete:
there is a company around manchester way, (cant remember the name of it) hey have got a two axled rigid, seen it the other day, the cabs nearly as long as the body

I have seen that one in Manchester a few times as well

There is a plant hire firm down here that runs 2 6 wheel tipper versions as well as an artic version on low loader work to deliver the plant. The bosses daughter drives one with an a-frame drawbar to tow the road planer

saw this last year ( and there was an article in one of the mags about it last autumn)

looks ugly to me

Yes Denis that looks a right old hotch potch. The one I saw was a much better conversion, it had the big lid and the box / cab flowed nicely (by comparison)

It still was put to shame by the P series 6 wheeler that was alongside which looked much better proportioned.

Imp:
Benton Bros of Lincolnshire have two one works on skellys the other is used as a shunter!

Bentons only have one TCab, Reg Y6 TED, Ted after one of the original Benton Brothers, it is driven by John, a smashing guy.
All Bentons Units have the rg letters BBT apart from the TCab and one other that are on the road.
There is a road shunter, driven by Mouldy, and a 95 shunter in the yard at Sibsey.

The other T Cab was named Billy and was T6BBT it was a T144L 460 6 X 2 the other “TED” is a T144L 530 6 X 2 (Top)

I dont know if they still have “Billy” but I was told its used as a shunter on Boston Docks.

I like it, apart from the back end, past the rear axle, seems out of proportion. Think the cab is great looking, though.

Tinnellys (Northern Ireland) have a few on the tippers…

But you gotta be quick to see 'um …

Oh and Gussion of Widnes have at least 1 on tankers…

great for getting in tight places, not sure about the ride though

standard crap horsebox design - least weight between the axles (living/storage etc) and all horses weight behind the rear axles - some of them look like they can pull wheelies when loaded

makes me think horsebox designers/builder have never driven one

coles of banbury have two t-cabs one of them is not on the road yet still being customized airbrushed with the film convoy, looks nice

Fair enough if theyre for specialist work but for tautliner /etc work god i hate em, ugly bleedin things. My mate drives a 480 tag axle for BJ Carberry and he loves it, the only good thing i will say about em is they got a flat floor which is nice… but for the outside?? NO NO NO NO NO!
i beleive the people that buy/drive em truly beleive that everyone loves them and are jealous of them :unamused:
i would rater drive a P cab Scania than one of those. Stupid things.

Coles have three not two,

Pederson Contracting and Mountains both Lincolnshire operators run some too, Pedersons have one I think and Mountains have two.
