Hi all
Does anyone opperate and know or just happen to know the weight of a T400 rear lift T Cab ?
Also the axle weights roughly ■■
I am converting mine from mid to rear lift with original scania axle to fit a crane and need to work out what weight / size crane i can fit.
Has anyone fitted a crane to this model ?
John McQuade who ran Machinery Movements had one.I can`t remember all the details of it but could handle 8-9 tonne machines.
I always felt it was a bad choice for a crane lorry as the cab length made it difficult to get into tight spaces and it had a massive overhang out the back.
Tragically John was killed in an accident on the A74 at the beginning of the year and his sons shut the business down.I have no idea where the lorry went.
Brian runs amongst other motors, a tag axle 164 480 T-Cab with a bloody great crane on the back, he may be able to answer your question.
Sorry, forgot to mention John had his stretched into a rigid. While eyecatching I never rated it for the job.
Thanks for the response, i need to keep mine as a unit but will make a little 5th whhel fixed body for small jobs. Am still needing some parts though if anyone has any ideas ■■?
Had calcs done for 32 ton pm crane on my 4x2 - by central hydraulic loaders
Then sold it
8,300KG for a T124 rear lift standard sleeper t unit, 10,300KG for a T144G 6x4 150 tonner standard sleeper t unit.

The main advantage of using a t cab is the ability to fit a larger crane behind the cab than you would on a normal 6 wheeler.
John’s crane was a 47mt ton, normally a crane of that size would need an 8 wheeler but on the t cab the weight of the crane is spread more evenly between the 1st and 2nd axle.
John’s lorry which was originally owned by Lynch is now for sale through pro truck autions in Doncaster.
Thanks all, have now purchased a 45t/m Copma 4 extension. Just got to build the unit around the crane now
Still need some parts though
