Hi all, as above, there is now a solid brake disk on the market for scania’s, has anyone tried them, I am very tempted, but, unsure how performance would be affected, any info greatfully appreciated.
don’t know what the scania solids are like but I am sure the firm I do some repair work will try them, the Volvo fh solids far outlast the vented ones, you don’t get the cracking, I am sure the original(solid) set on my fh did well over 750,000 ks, in the end the face of the disc just went, I changed the lot at the same time though some would have gone longer!
if it was my choice I would fit solids every time
depending on the work you do they should outlast vented discs. when i was at volvo i remember us changing from vented to solid discs as they were more reliable. i have yet to fit a solid to a scania though but cant see there being any problem.
Now fitted 2 more pairs on our v8’s and we do proberly the worst job for brakes all European trailers unit does most of the braking and at the moment very happy with them.
