Scania R480 Euro 4

Is this still considered THE Scania too avoid even fully freighted both ways?

I’m just highly suspicious of anything EGR.

My only knowledge comes from tractors, the egr valves play up now and again apparently but i have a couple at 360hp and theyve been no trouble, but got to be better to let the engine run in a ‘pure’ form and clean up the mess with add blue, but then is that a free lunch in terms of component reliability?

Egr engines are not to bad just need to give them some high revs every now and then

Slightly different but I have been offered a cancelled order 8x4 p400euro5 egr,i know they have had it since autumn last year.I have checked it out through a scania mechanic from a very well known dealer and I am going to run a mile. Shame because it seemed a good deal.

Can you not blank the EGR like on mk6 transit vans, or delete it from the software like mk7 transits?.

You wouldn’t want to spend you’re life breathing you’re own ■■■■■!.

We have a p400. No trouble with it. :bulb:

Is it egr and is it an 8x4 if so please tell me more.

it can be done but i understand that the “high exhaust emission” light can take some dealing with on some models, the warning light can cause problems when the truck goes for mot

Its a tractor unit. 2011 reg does reasonable weights on timber haulage and the driver is happy with it. We also have an 07 p380 on same work. It broke an engine cam a while back sounds worse than it was the truck was back on the road that evening. Both are good pullers for hp and do 8mpg. Daf and merc get 6.6/7.0.

Meant to say scania ddrives tend to crack an odd rim and can shear halfshafts on take off when abused.
