Scania R450 Adaptive Cruise Control

Just came back from a few days off to find the Adaptive Cruise Control has been engaged on my Scania Next Gen R450. Had the truck the best part of two years and never used this feature as I don’t like it and I’m completely stumped as to how to turn the thing off!

Can’t find anything within any of the dashboard menus and no obvious switch. The Scania online user manual shows the control as having an off switch (a “0”) at the base of the steering wheel but on mine only the normal cruise control and the downhill speed control have this (pictured). The only controls for the adaptive are to lengthen and shorten the range at which the speed control kicks in.

Also had a good look through YouTube and can’t find anything.

Any ideas?

Isn’t it like the DAFs where you turn the distance right down until it says OFF?

Fraid not. Tried that but it just brings it down to level one, which is still enough to start dropping your speed from 150m away.

Other than the steering wheel switch is there another one on your dash?

Right hand side of the steering wheel you’ve got a button with 4 arrows and ok in the middle. Then to the left of that is another button with a backwards arrow and a cog sort of shaped button underneath. You need to press that cog button.

This will bring up a menu which lets you choose between eco or normal driving modes.

Press the up or down arrows until you get to the cruise control symbol. Here you’ll have 3 options. The left is cruise control off, middle cruise control on, right adaptive cruise control on.

Use the left and right arrows to select the middle one for normal cruise control on.

Then press the back arrow to go out of that menu.

No. Not for cruise control.

Brilliant. That’s sounds like it’ll work. Thanks mate.

Remember how to turn it off so you can turn it on again in roadworks. I find it much more relaxing using adaptive cruise control in things like roadworks and heavy traffic where its still flowing and everyone in all lanes doing similar speeds making changing lanes pointless.
