Oddly enough Gardners used to puke oil just about everywhere, but the one place they didn’t was out of the rear main scroll. At least not until they were either completely knackered, overfilled or just so neglected that the scroll was caked in sludge.
As for mentioning Sc**** in the same breath, unforgivable!
