Scania P320 limp mode

I’ve a truck going into limp mode normally when it’s it in top gear cruising along. I have to pull over and master switch it and it normally solves it.

But any idea before it going into the dealers?

Read the fault code? As far as I know from memory it’s possible to read the fault code without a code reader on the 1990s and 2000s era Scannies by doing something which will read out the code as a sequence of flashes on one of the dash warning lights.

For newer ones…

On the analogue dash you hold down both the buttons either side of the screen in the middle of the dash on the speedo for 3 seconds.

Top left shows the module where the fault is.
Middle left shows how many times it’s occured.
Bottom left shows the fault code symbol
Top right shows the actual fault code number
Middle right shows ! if it’s still active
Bottom right shows which page of fault codes you’re looking at and how many are active.

On the digital dash you access fault code displays from one of the favourites screens.

Press any button to display the button bar on the favourite screen.
Use button 1 or 5 to scroll to open the faults code mode.
Long press of button 3 updates the list.
Short press of button 4 displays info about the selected fault
Long press of button 4 clears the faults.
Again as above a ! next to the fault means it’s still active.

I can read the daily codes in the dash. It’s a 2017. They are all abbreviated so don’t know what I’m reading. Can they be cleared on the dash then?

Failing that, take the magnet off the gearbox

Did you press button 4 to give you more info about the fault? The truck is literally telling you what it thinks is wrong with it. Google the abbreviation or the number for the code if it gives one.

If it’s the digital dash I posted how to clear them above - long press of 4 button.
