i had a accident and wagon was on a downhill slope i got out to press the buzzer to open the gate and about 2 mins lata wagon started rolling forward and when sum one jumped in it the handbrake was applied
hmmm so it seems farm boys guess was correct
as for you attack on farmboy imho it was bang out of order
could be the slack adjusters on scanias being a bit weak⌠I have to get mine adjusted about once a month when they come out of line and I start slewing off in all directions under braking (on a 4x2). I once had trouble with a daf parking brake, but it turned out that the brakes were just about worn out and ready for changingâŚ
Diff Lock:
âSurely if your tipping a walking floor trailer, you have got to keep edging forward as the load discharges?
As the load piles up the pressure is going to push the wagon forwards?
Cant do the back of the trailer/suspension any good if the handbrakes left on for the duration of tipping, can it?â
Just because itâs a walking floor dosnât mean it has to be bulk, the farmer wouldânt be very happy if you let a load of 600kg fertiliser bags fall out the back door!
Fair comment, presumed(wrongly)it was a bulk load
Next time, halfway through tipping, try letting the handbrake off (briefly)so that the suspension can level out ?
The only problem I gave ever had with s Scania park brake was it worked when I released it so unfortunately I had to drive the â â â â â â â thing.

Well, everything is a major problem on an Iveco, in fact âIvecoâ stands for âIt Vibrates, Everything Comes Offâ.
I think that only Scania and Volvo among the commonly used trucks in the UK do not apply the trailer brakes with the handbrake.
Why this should be, I have no idea, but it does seem to occasionally cause problems.
Personally, I donât like the way that they rear up when you take your foot off the footbrake after parking uphill on a steep slope and I suppose that with only one braked axle, it needs to be in top condition.
