Scania 'Dark Diamond' V8 limited-edition

In the best tradition of the wonderful Count Arthuir Strong…Behold, the Dark Destroyer…errr…Dark Chocolate…no that’s not it…err…Dark Star…oh for fizzin heck’s sake it’s the DARK DIAMOND limited edition V8 Scania! Yes for lovers of the mighty Scania vee-bomber those cheeky folk from Sodertalje are to build a limited series of 100 (count 'em) very special V8-powered R-Series tractors in collaboration with ‘Mr Custom Truck’ himself—Svempas, the world-renowned Swedish truck fettler and man who made the 900hp T-cab convertible. And the good news for Griffin fans in Blighty? The 100 units will be sold in all Scania V8 markets worldwide!

The Dark Diamond V8 (available with either a Highline or Topline cab) is undeniably a true eye-catcher and comes with more goodies than you can shake an order form at including special detailing (like on the side valances above) all over the outside vehicle and the interior too. And to read all about it click through here!

And talking of nice touches how about this? An LED lamp with safety brake light in the upper rear part of the cab’s side air deflectors? Or these Dark Diamond V8 door handles…?

“Our V8 customers often customise their trucks out of sheer enthusiasm and joy,” Joel Granath, director of the long-haulage segment at Scania, tells BLB. “And Dark Diamond will appeal to these as well as other customers in search of a prestigious vehicle that builds image. What they get is an exceptional truck with long-lasting performance and durability.”

There’s more=

“With the Dark Diamond we are starting a tradition of factory-supported limited edition vehicles,” concludes Joel…And here’s a bit more detail showing the special Dark Diamond rear cab wall panels inside…

And here’s the custom interior complete with leather and carbon fibre seat coverings, ‘Piano Black’ gloss steering wheel and, as part of the package, a full multi-mdeia system with flat screen TV and a reversing camera too…

The paintwork - in metallic Carbon Blue - is, so I’m told, “…complemented with detailing in chrome and high-gloss ‘Piano Black’ finish, as well as unique graphic accents. The aforementioned interior is meticulously detailed with fine materials, additional creature comfort features and thoughtful touches.” Like this V8 motif wotnot on the floor covering…

While the doors get special red-lights too built-in to the door pockets…and check out the ‘black on black’ leather door panels too.

The numerous Scania V8 and Griffin symbols will doubtless please the big banger enthusiasts—and each of the vehicles in the limited series of 100 units is individually numbered and signed by Sven-Erik ‘Svempa’ Bergendahl himself. Coo…err…

BLB’s only comment is that, having once owned a black car, it takes a hell of a lot of work to keep it clean—and equally very clean water with a spotless chamois leather to wipe it off too! But don’t mind me…I’m just jealous. I seem to recall Martin Phippard telling me that one ultra-keen Candian operator he knew used to ensure there were no water marks or streaks on his trucks by using distilled water for the final rinse!

   :stuck_out_tongue:

I got all that off of Big lorry blog.

As i was cruising thro my hometown southport this afternoon in my 4 point 2 8mph electric wheelchair i heard a truck setting off from a set of lights. It was a wagon and drag on the flower job from a co.called plant land. When i looked it was a 620,the sound had to be heard to be believed, fantastic. This is from an ex trucker who was a dedicated daf man.
regards and best seasonal wishs to you all from dave.
