Just got a new unit (not new but new to me) for tramping and it’s got a coffee machine in it shown in the picture. Without sounding like a stupid question how does this work? I take it there are some filters you’ve got to get to put in the black but which is where you put the coffee. Is it a particular type of filter or is there a standard size? After that I take its a simple case of filling up the clear container with water and pressing on. Thanks!
They’re usually a standard size. You fill the main body with water as you said.
How do you keep the water in it ?
Unless you like Luke warm coffee , buy a gas stove and kettle.
I’m guessing he’ll need some #4 sized filters
Waste of space them things it’s quicker to boil water in the microwave .
. Just used mine to warm the water up for washing if i neded it… keep carrying the kettle… quicker and easier…
had one of these in a previous unit I drove - never used it for "filter coffee " far to much hassle to keep it clean . I just used it to boil/ heat water and used a spoonful of instant in the cup instaed .I never saw the attraction of filter coffee - way to much faffing about for me .

Looks like one of them there horizontally opposed engines from a BMW motorbike
Used to love mine fill it up with water fill black bit with coffee great
I use mine as follows.
Remove the jug and black filter holder from the right hand side.
Get a travel mug, put in instant coffee and sugar to taste and place in the right hand compartment.
Fill the left hand container to just over two and a half and close the lid/ flap at the top. Press the button and wait. Hot water fills your mug and makes a coffee.
Note:
It is true that the water does not boil. However, I use creamer instead of milk which keeps it hotter.
Also, use a metal travel mug as there is a heating element in the compartment which could melt a plastic mug.
I find that if I set it all up last thing at night then, in the morning when I am still half asleep, just by pressing the button, a few minutes later I have a coffee all ready.
Hope this helps.
Yes but nothing beats really strong filter coffee [WHITE SMILING FACE]
if its newish the water will be red hot, put water in the left handside the plastic clear bit then press the button the front and wait
just use it as a kettle, gets the water hot enough to make my porridge
Don’t be afraid to freestyle a bit, try a teabag or even a flavoured teabag and let the water pass through it for that wishy washy cuppa.
Vampires can try a tampon for that mid morning pick me up.

Too true.
I use mine for a proper filter Coffee, usually once a day.
I use size 2 filter paper from Morrisons(red box in the coffee tea row), place a filter paper in the black cup that’s sits on the jug, put in 2-3 teaspoons of filter Coffee into the filter paper, I’m drinking some French style pre ground filter coffee(its filter coffee that’s required), from Morrisons(just because its at the bottom of my street), If you have a Scanis travel Mug, fill the water(clear container on the left) to about 2 and half, if you want milk, 3 if you drink it properly(black). Press button it will light red, and will light green and bleep when ready. 10-15 minutes lovely filter coffee smells all over the cab and beautiful coffee to drink.
You can get coffee machine descaler, if its not new and is a bit luke warm, also, were possible buy bottled water, will work better for longer.
Enjoy
