Truckfest

Hi all no 46 was bought new from reliable vehicles Renfrew by my brother in law Billy Wright I think it was a 420 also it was the first top line streamline in Scotland if not the UK.
Does anybody know how many of the 100 Centurian Scanias built are still in existence, and if so is there a list of who owns them now. Or should we make a thread on the net, numbers 1-100. Just a thought.
Lance have you looked on truckblog.co.uk ?
Number 47 or 48 was last used by Ian Howard nr Wirksworth to move his steam engine ,it was a flat roof twin steer 143 450 but unfortunately destroyed by a shed fire in 2003 ,more info to follow !
One of my ex boss’s had J100 HGM from new, a 4x2 143 450 with no spoiler kit, it was white with the ‘purple-ish’ stripes. It did a lot of work for Chafer liquid fertilizer, hence no spoiler kit (farms and lanes etc)
Last time i saw it (1998ish), i was coming out of the Pidou nr Transmarck and the new owner was coming round the roundabout the wrong way.
If i remember rightly, it had an British built euroliner behind it.
Unfortunatly i have no idea what number it was.

sent you a pm very interested in the centurion badges.
Anybody know if John Phillips’ Centurian survived and where it is? He used to bring steel into our yard for Walkersteel, but with a later one. He reckoned that the Truckfest had got out of hand and had packed it in and his new motor was quite plain. Also who remembers the unit with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood . Heard that Walkers made the lad take it all off cos they didn’t want their business associated with cowboys! Jim

Ron Wood run out of the Isle of Sheppey, Kent. I believe he has packed up and now owns a fish and chip shop on the island, but I’m happy to be corrected. The concrete pipes he used to move were out of Milton Pre Cast, Sittingbourne. The last time I saw Rons old Centurion was last year in Eirith. I don
t know who was running it then or now. Nice motor though. There is a clip of it being loaded onto a low loader on you tube somewhere.
You are correct there mate
rons old centurian is owned by richard payne ( h e payne) now still with the rwh number plate on
cheers
