Talking to my mate the other day, and I just mentioned 4 series Scanias, particularlrly the 14 litre ones, anyway mentioned the power output 530 and 460, and he said “they didnt do a 460, you mean 480”, “no they did a 460 I said” and hes adamant they didnt, I know they werent as common as a 530, but I know they did em. Bearing in mind they came out in 1996, 460 was big power then.
I want to prove him wrong, so any pics please? The only one I have is this one from a breakers yard

it’s just that you’ve got 3 different engine’s with similer out puts,
at the top end of the scale you’ve got;

144 460 v8
124 470 6 pot
164 480 v8
144 530 v8
164 580 v8
could any one shed any light on this
or had the swedes been given some dope from the far superior dutch truck designers?

Basically but probably not entirely accurately because…
At launch the you had the 114 at 340 and 380, 124 as 360 and 400, the 144 at 460 and 530.
The 400 got eeked out to 420 then later turbocompounded out to 470
Then the 14 litre got bored to 16 to create the 164 480 and 580
Roll on the R series and its 420 sixpot and 480 turbocompounded and the V8 is now available in several guise and ratings depending on Euro rating
etc, etc, you get the idea basically they are all different model year versions and tweaks
Roll in the anoraks to spit specific hairs
R470 before it went R480 .
