Scania 140 / 141

So the air-suspended 141s only had a single-wheel tag, but the ones with steel-sprung drive axles had twins? If I have understood it correctly, why was this?

Another question- what’s that behind the blue 141, between the other Scania and the F86?

Lovely looking motor, but what’s with the pokey little fuel tank  I got a bigger tank than that on my Landy Discovery!

They usually had one either side plenty of juice !

1 either side be better yes, but still look dinky compared to most tanks I remember on 111/141s! Drove a 111 a couple of times but it didn’t have the nearside window/mirror in the door, were they much use?
Regards
Chris

I had a LHD one and found the mirror quite useful

The motors at the back are Scania 110,Scania coach with SVESSIS? on the headboard & SCANIA in red round the front, & a battered F86 in SCA colours.

well the M range steelsping range was avalebul with sihgle or double in 2 as nd 3 series, air only whit doubels ontag since 90 when full air.s came and no fabrik steeltags in 1series whit steeltagas and singles was made,i think, this is no absolutly truh, but

M-frame with steelsprings (normal leaf and parabolic), had always single-wheels on tag in 2 and 3-series, same was with air, up to ´90, when full-air came with double-wheel option.
H-frame was always with doubles, both steel, and later with air-tags.
Thats how it was in Finland at least. Some M-frame single tags has been later converted to double-wheels.
1-series with steel-tag was always with doubles, and air-tag was with singles. Drive and tag-axle, they both were air-suspended.

That seems to make sense, even to me. Presumably, the tag axle suspension on the air 141s was rated at a lower weight than the steel tag (or the 1990 3 series). The 140 steel suspension looked like this (bottom right, third inset along):

What did the 141 air 6x2 look like?

allmoust same until the very first 144L series ,our 97 has same airbags as the older ones, the negative side is short lifting level in suspension.whit rear tag the driveaxle be hanging in sotf mud.The best whit scania is they don,t change constractions if it,s working, living in coutryside long way from workshops you learn to use parts from older from yard (onse 144 drivehub broked, replased it whit one from a111,only differen the ABS did not fit) never possible on a VOLVO
