Does anybody know if one of the original Scania’s 140/141 from Astran still excist? What about these two for example? greetings Peter from the Netherlands

As far as I know only one of the early Astran 140’s survived. Pat Duffy used it. There are photos of it elsewhere on Trucknet.
PHK (the yellow one) was left in Doha when Astran closed the transport operations, but TDX survived and later became a wrecker. There are some photos posted elsewhere on Trucknet as a wrecker.
There is also a “very good rumour” that at least one of Astran’s early 142’s is still “alive” in Doha… :smiley:

Surprise !!! This is what is left of the …PHK172M !!!

Thanks to my mate Jan Dekker, hers the translation;
This can NOT by PHK 172M as that was a 6x4 originally. This vehicle was a 4x2 which was converted to 6x4 in Holland…read on!

For sale, ex Astran Scania LBS140 super V8 350bhp from 1974, engine without the turbo but otherwise complete and well running, low milage he thinks. The truck was sold complete with trailer in 1978 by Scania Dartford Tunnel to a transportcompany over here. They converted the truck to 6x4 tractor spec, and it was used for one year for work on Italy hauling 100 ton machines. After that they had no work for it. The tandem bogie came from a Foden, with which it could not do more than 50 kilometers per hour. Astran went from rigids to tractors in 1978, truck has been set aside with good running engine and low milage, no grease and grime on the chassis. At the back of the chassis there seems to be something missing, original bogie has been kept in a container in the yard for 33 years. The truck is mentioned in your book, documented with photo’s etc., should be an M-reg vehicle. It is a late 140 with grey steering wheel but headlights already in the grille instead of the bumper. New badges and black Scania badge on the front, but also the V8 logo on the doors like the old 140’s. Cab needs a restauration because it has been outside for a long time, steps, doors and floorpan are in good condition, doorsills (?) and cabroof need to be replaced. Chassis in very good condition, inliners are good. Cab looks terrible but is OK when you have a GOOD look at it. Greetings Frank.

All i know is what the seller told me …
The truck is standing in MALTA !! The seller Frank is a driver from Holland who lives in Malta. The truck is standing there for more then 15 years and is looking very bad but is in a good condition due the malta climate. Inliners very good and cabin main frame is ok.
Frank is not the owner but has contact with the man who ownes the Scania.
I calles with him about 2 weeks ago because i am looking for a 140 or 141 to restore and he wanted to call me back as soon as he was in Malta again.

greetings Vabisman

Took this last year on a trip to Harwich called in to see my friends at H.C Wilson Heavy Haulage.

regards Big Al

This is post number 140 for me, so it is only appropriate that I put up a photo of one. I believe this shows the 140 on its first day out, so to speak.
