Great pics scam73, welcome and keep them coming, the Routemaster was in its day one of the best muckaway trucks.
Yeah I agree, they was one of the most used trucks of the their time, I think when they came to the end of of their first working life they always came back as a muckaway truck! Good all round truck.
DEANB:
I know its not a routeman but a nice article that will fit on here. Sometimes you need to click on pages as they
go out of focus when you scan them on here !
Great Lorry without doubt, however when i spent a few years working on them during the weekends they were no where near as easy to maintain as the D series that i worked on during the week at a Ford Dealership!! It was the tilt cab that did it!!

As I remember it was easy to check and top up the oil, just roll back the picnic blanket pop the clips off and lift the engine cover up, all done inside the cab!! Then along came the leyland constructor with a tilt cab!

Great memories, would you happen to have any pictures■■? many thanks.
Never driven a Routeman myself, although we had the Handyman for a spell at Safeway’s. Same cab with a Rolls Royce Eagle diesel. They were a handsome looking motor in their time, though I personally preferred the ’ macho ’ lines of the Crusader. Eddie.
