hi ,before we moved away …
5yrs ago we visited wi friends in Carnwath Lanarkshire.,and from the upstairs livingroom window into an old haulage yARd in town was an ex blue circle routeman and a couple o ergo cabbed leylands.in various states behind a fence/wall…
jimmy.

I had the chance this week of visiting the CV Show at the NEC Birmingham, amongst all the new vehicle stands was a dedicated section of old vehicles,
not all SCAMMELLS I know but I think they are worthy of being listed onto this thread.
If anybody wants to use these pic’s please do but can I ask that you give this thread a mention!!! :sunglasses: ENJOY :sunglasses:

Back to the Routemans! :sunglasses:

Hiya …that stupid salter scales scammell had a girder that stuck out of the back doors.one of our drivers years ago got onto
the woolwich ferry, the ferry man indicated to the driver to go close to the back of the Scammell, the driver or the ferry man
did’t see the girder high up… crunch the girder made a big hole in the DAF top sleeper, just to make things worse the DAF was
only a week old, plus the driver was only on the DAF that day while his 8 year old sudden accident was been MOT’d.
John

Gilbraith ran quite a few Scammells in their time over the years, in fact I am quite sure they were agents for them at their Accrington base.I know John Beisty Ltd the tipper company I worked for during the late 60s/70s bought a few new Routemans from them.
