Apparently it’s not a Samson but a conversion from a 6 x 4.

FBO 993V Scammell CR100 Amazon 100 ton unit, new to Wynns in 1980, fleet no. 636, transferred to Wynns Stafford in 1982. Rolls Royce eagle 305, Fuller RTO 12515 15 speed and a rear bogie from the smaller size Contractor, Wynns had 6 of them. [info from Wynns fleet book and Scammell book]

I presume the muslims took offence at the name ‘Crusader’. Interesting story - I wonder if today’s drivers would be so helpful to Derek?
