I’m not defending speeding here, but these so called ‘safety cameras’ are purely and simply to raise revenue. If they want to reduce speeding, put them on clear veiw.
well the cameras on the M4 / M5 round Bristol are NOT hidden and they still catch people work that out

everyones entitled to their own opinion,somehow I feel theres a few have a similar opinion of the smug condescending self opinionated style of posting you partake in when I read other similar comments about your posts.im intrigued as to how you profess to know in what way I appear to be thick and scraping the bottom of the barrel of haulage or as to what qualifications or level of education I have? apart from some A levels,and a operator cpc,then I always thought I had more than enough to be driving a truck.being self employed then I am treated rather well without working for anyone desperate and I would have thought in most cases,then despite what agency workers say,then the words,desperate and agency would work rather well together. clean licence conor so think that another time you have managed to come across as a complete bell end. seeing as you know everything about everything maybe you can enlighten the world as to just how much income is generated by speed cameras? or is it just to cover costs?

the outside lane yes is slightly narrower, however isn’t this offset by taking longer to pass as your all sat at the same speed?
All lanes are narrower in some works. Especially the current set on the M1 at J16-19. But look at it this way.
At 56mph you’ll travel 20 mile in 21.4 minutes.
At 50mph you’ll travel 20 mile in 24 minutes.
Are those 2.6 minutes really worth worrying about ?
don’t have an issue with a bit extra time but does it really need to be 50mph? why not 60 so cars can pass hgvs quickly and safely.
you know its just a way to make money by the fact they spend hours putting the cameras up waaay before the roadworks start, or the sneaky last camera that’s 2cm inside where the road goes back to normal speed limits.

so why not allow cars to do 60 this would stop them causing trucks to overtake needlessly.

Nah its set of roadworks, HGV outside lane restriction, let’s all dive bomb in front of the nearest truck and sit there at 45 - 50 then brake to 40 speed up to 50 brake, exit roadworks and pull back into the middle lane to 80 again - repeat process at next set of works.

A car’s lack of cruise control adds to the woes as well as they struggle to maintain a steady speed like we do.
Not sure speeding cars up is the answer though. Try travelling through a single lane stretch of roadworks such as the current M6 to M5 slip or the A14 at Kettering. Cars tend to travel way below what is allowed and it’s nothing to do with speedo calibration. It only takes 1 idiot to slow 20 miles of roadworks down to a snail’s pace and unfortunately motorways are full of these drivers.
