SCaC trailer Pictures

Hi All,

I guess a few on here remember SCaC and their trailers? Following on from my seach for the European truck book ( see separate thread) i was wondering if anyone had any old pictures of SCaC trailers?
I had a poke around the net and on here, but there is’nt many pictures around? I want to do a 1/50 model of the tilt trailer and 3600 DAF Space cab if i can get some decent pics? From memory and French holdays as a kid, their trailers were usually quite ‘well worn’!

2 axles that were spread apart seems to ring a bell?

Many thanks

Richard

by the way check this web site out got loads of waggons from the 80s on. euro-wheels.com.

Hi Richard, don’t know if these are of much help, although they might give you idea of the colours etc, took them more for the MACK really although like a lot of companies now gone you wish you had taken more of them! As you can see this one is a 3-axle trailer, SCAC probably did have spread-tandem’s, but I remember MERZARIO more for them.

Hi,

This is exactly what i was looking for! Great looking Mack, just a shame the trailer logos are mainly out of shot. :frowning: I can see why you took the pictures though! Is it me, or did the SCaC trailers usually appeared to be knackered?? This one must have had limited use!?

Perhap, i can get some decals made up from these shots anyway?

Many thanks and i will post some pics of the finished article when it is finished!

Richard

The trailers which are being pulled by Mike Browns Globetrotter are different from all the others shown so far.The difference being is that the ones behind the Globetrotter were on the Italian traffic side of SCAC.If you look along the sides just below the the rave you will notice that there is lifting points which were used in Le Havre and at Novarra for lifting the trailers on and off trains as these were sent by rail (kangroos). The rear under run used to lift up and were held there by chains.Regards Todd.

Hi Todd. Never new that, thanks for the info’ mate we’re never too old to learn!

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone for posting pics so far, but from seeing them as a kid, the ones i remember had… Calais, Dieppe and ‘Douvres’ ( Dover!) written on the side. Did i dream that or did they all have Dieppe? As a kid i went on my French hols through Portsmouth. Would that be a reason for seeing the different locations?
