Saving gormless billionaires

I’m with Franglais on this. Hopefully this will put a stop to this ghoulish voyerism of the very rich, seeking to gawp at the grave of some 1500 unfortunate souls who paid to seek a legal better future in a foreign land.

It’s just human nature. 1,200 people died in the Battle of Bosworth which was over 500 years ago, and there’s a visitor centre there with a gift shop selling tacky Chinese-made souvenirs.

Depends which way you look.at it innit?
It’s history, people are interested in history.
I once visited the site of the field at Malmedy for example where the SS massacred 120 American POWs, is that ghoulish voyeurism, or paying respect and remembering…I have also visited numerous war cemeteries.
I have visited ■■■■ Concentration and death camps.
If nobody visited these sites they and the people involved would be forgotten.
Ok it didn’t cost me 250k and I did not travel in a wealthy man’s toy, but it’s the same principle.

Please can we close this as it’s now a wreckage recovery mission as it appears the sub imploded killing all on board

Debris found near Titanic wreck is from missing submersible - US Coast Guard says
The debris discovered within the search area near the Titanic wreck is from the missing submersible, the US Coast Guard has confirmed.

“The debris is consistent with a catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber. Upon this determination we immediately notified the families”, said Rear Admiral John Mauger of the US Coast Guard, who is leading the search for Titan.

Rear Admiral Mauger added that the coast guard wants to “extend our condolences to the families of those on board”.

He earlier said an underwater robot found a tail cone of the missing submersible this morning.

Rear Admiral Mauger added underwater robots will remain on the scene to gather information.

He added that the coast guard is still working to develop details of a timeline of the disaster.

All their families can hope for is that it was a quick death on the first day,.rather than a slow one over a number of days ending in a catastrophic implosion.
RIP to all involved.

The big question of the day is ?
Is the Titanic’s swimming pool still full ?

When you’re wrong just say “I’m wrong”.

You sure about that? Your original post has backfired on you in a big way, I think pretty much everyone who has commented so far can see that and it’s only made you out to look an insensitive moron. Yes I will use personal insults when you seem to take glee in the fact that innocent people lost their lives and your only motive for this glee was the fact they were rich millionaires/billionaires who you made lots of unfounded assumptions about simply because of their riches.

Well it’s been confirmed, all perished. At least there’ll be one bitter and twisted individual consumed by hate towards anyone who has something that he’s too lazy or inept to get for himself jerking off into a Kleenex tonight.

And I thought my response to him was blunt and to the point.

See thing is if you report it, it goes.
Better to leave this type of stuff up so people can see it and draw conclusions.
Apart from that, I’ve never been one for ‘reporting’ anybody for anything tbh.

(Except maybe once that a certain member :unamused: , keeps reminding me about, when this comes up, but was fully justified at the time as it involved my family… :bulb: )

Seems like it happened at the same time comms were lost. Lots of stories from guys who refused to go on it cos it had never been tested. Amazing you would pay 250,000 to sit in a tincan.

No point to either of your posts - just childish insults because you hate anyone who disagrees with you.

Hint for life - sometimes the people you disagree with the most are the people you can learn the most from. But you need an open mind for that.

You fancy putting your money on oceangate paying for the rescue? No, didnt think so.

Couldn’t agree more to all of your above.

The problem being that I simply can’t learn anything from one whose view is so skewed and quite frankly immature that there is absolutely nothing of benefit to be gleaned from your diatribes.

At the risk of contravening forum rules re personal attacks you are a busted flush, pathetic in every sense of the word. I’d love to think that you are on a wind up, because quite frankly I find it hard to believe that someone can hold such ridiculous views as you do and still manage to function in this world.

If you are genuine in your views I’d like to be able to say that I feel deep sympathy for you, but I can’t. My honest feelings are that I’m completely ambivalent to you in every sense of the word. Live, die, prosper, fail. I honestly don’t care.

Tbh everyone is entitled to their view however crass and morally wrong it might be. Locking the thread isn’t the answer in my book.

Everyone else has the option to read it or not and reply or not as most have done.

But at the end of the day RIP to those who have now been confirmed dead.

Why are good trolls so rare on this forum? You became too obvious chap

Sympathy to the individuals in this case.
But, a lot of questions for the general case.

Are these privately owned vessels certified by anyone?
Commercial and private aircraft are. Ships are. Are subs and rockets?

Are the designs certified by independent bodies?

If these are money making ventures for the operators, are they paying for the support they get from tax payers?
Should tax payers really send expensive aid for those who may be taking reckless trips for no good reason? (I`ll repeat, general case not necessarily this trip)

If someone wants to finance their hobby by selling tickets on a home-made rocket ship to the moon, should Govs (us) subsidise the rescue safety net they themselves don`t provide?

Should insurance that pays for rescue be compulsory? Or should every tax payer (rich and poor) pay for the rescue of the few rich enough to pay for a ticket for an exotic jolly?

No one wants to leave an individual to die, but we do that all the time because medical intervention is too expensive. People die prematurely in the UK because the NHS is underfunded.
Should taxes go to headline rescues for a few? or be spread out to make for longer lives for thousands suffering mental health, or more mundane problems who are pretty much ignored as there are so many of them and so are commonplace.

On this particular case, it is now being reported that there was an “acoustic event” consistent with an implosion at the moment the sub lost contact with the mother ship.
That news seems to have been lost earlier on.
