Good find but, like the ones I found, I don’t think it gets us closer to the answer. The mystery vehicle had a long front overhang, and a sloping bonnet. Neither the OM or the IF vehicles had that. I’m tending towards the idea that it’s an OM or IF cab on top of an ex-WW2 tractor- the same tractors used by Loheac and others. MoL, Ginaf, maybe.

We’ll get there in the end- the journey is as pleasurable as the destination!

Most important question though… was it powered by a TL12?

There were a lot of little firms and blacksmiths, most of them long gone now, that did conversions to ex-WW2 material, could be a needle in a haystack?!

I think I’ve seen that high, tapered bonnet before. Even if the lorry is a one-off, I bet we could find out where the cab and bonnet came from.

I have forwarded the request to Jean-François Colombet, chief-editor of Charge-Utile Magazine, but he’s presently overwhelmed with work to to a computer failure and still 3000 mails to read. So it should take a little time.

Willeme LD 610TB with Lecapitaine cab.

I had never seen this one! A spacious and certainly comfortable cab for its time!

The same Willeme from profile.

Spacious indeed, but to say it looks good… maybe one bridge too far…

Some proper kit to work with back in the day I imagine.

Unic P 200 6x4 with 8-litre engine fitted with Saurer injection.

Bonneted Unic P 270 V8 .

This looks like it’s based on a Renault chassis? nmp

Any thoughts about the make of this one? Going by the shape of the bonnet I would say Mack B series, but I’m not sure.

A quick perusal of Google Images shows all B series Macks to have the familiar full wings, with flush headlamps. The camion in your pic also has a chrome srip down the middle of the bonnet, and some sort of moulding above the grille.

Isn’t it a Scania-Vabis?

I thought it might be an LS71 Regent, but the axles look the same, so it is probably double drive. The wings are the wrong shape for an S-V, too. The sun visor has a Spanish look to it, the signwriting below the door looks like the stuff that Spanish wagons had, with the gross weight etc.

Here’s what I think is a pre B series Mack:

It is certainly a Spanish copper in the photo.

That quarterlight looks familiar:

What a stunner that Leyland is. I found it here:

A very neat and good looking cab; resembles the French Bernards of the fifties and seventies. One of my favourite British trucks.

And powered by the wonderful, flexible Leyland 0.600. Later bonnetted Hippos and Super Hippos may have been given 0.680s

Mack L series seems to be the best match for it.

Anorak et froggy…somewhere on this thread, John (Saviem) did a great write up of the Bernard 8 wheeler…in the early '60’s it was an advanced lorry, with air suspension and disc brakes, alas French legislation put an end to it…also on here, I posted up a model a guy had done of it, it was superb considering it was done from scratch….as for the rust problem I put a couple of pics off one that had been abandoned in a field somewhere, only recognisable by the port hole window, it had completely disintegrated… if i come across the articles, I’ll repost them…

Found the pics…sad init…
