I thought only the French still believe they can make a lot of money with such pictures. That’s why they so often stick their name in the middle of their pictures, so that no one else will sell them back! The Berliet is a TLM 10 M2 (1961-63).
pete smith:
How about this one then? Is that Johnny in the passenger seat asking " PV why aren’t we in a Scania, instead of this noisy heap of [zb]"?!
More like :- "That’s the seventh gear change you’ve flucked up, but I hear they’re fitting these with auto boxes, so you’ll be OK…if we get back to the depot…

I’m getting really fed up of these fibs that Whips is spreading about me Dave, you know full well a cushion would be no good it would have to be a mattress at least!
Dave, If you want to tell the Ladies about the painting I will back you up all the way until your nose starts bleeding! Cheer’s Peter the painter!
We’ll let Whips tell 'em…he can run faster on those spindly little legs…
Froggy55:
Interesting! The two on the right are definitely Scanias, but what about the other one? American? Volvo dit produce such cabs in the 50s, I think.
It looks a bit German that other one, they’ll be more experienced people on here than me to answer that …also, wonder what they’re carrying, it’s an odd place to be with three tankers, I wonder if it’s tar, and they’re going to do the road, perhaps waiting for the machines …maybe we’ll never know…

The way I see it Paul…if you have to post up with a signature right across the photo, then don’t…if it’s put on the W.W.W. then it’s for all to see, and if necessary to use and pass on…
pete smith:
Dave,
Some great pictures there, good to have you back posting… was getting bored with Whips, I think Johnny was as well as he has gone quiet!
Only till the rain stops, then its back to work !
Johnny emailed me…he’s moving to Paraguay …didn’t say why though…
Nothing surprising! PRP took over the heavy haulage department of Willème when they closed down in 1971, and were themselves bought by Belgian MOL in 1978. Nevertheless, I didn’t know MOL had continued the production of trucks fitted with the Pelpel cab; interesting!
Fergie47:
Pic 1…At the factory entrance…“Lorries this way”
Pic 2…Health and safety anyone ?
Second pic shows a Berliet TBO, perhaps beside an oil drilling plant in Sahara. Berliet did manufacture generators, the biggest being powered by a V12 diesel. One of your previous batches shows a Volvo F 88 8x2; never seen that before!
To come back to the picture with the two Scania tankers, I’d say the fence on the left encloses a dump.

It does not look like a Pelpel cab to me- more like a rather crude attempt to look like one! At a guess, I’d say the MOL tractor predates the merger of the firms, after which MOL would have had carte blanche to use the “real” Pelpel cab, one would assume.

Hi Dave,
it must still be raining or Liz has popped out as you are on here!
I thought Johnny may have considered South Korea as they have a better national football team!

anorak:
The styling of the MOL looks to be a copy of that of the Willeme:
Anorak…bonjour…do you recognize the lorry on the left in the picture ■■?
Bonjour mon ami. C’est une Volvo “Nez Rond”: wikiwand.com/en/Volvo_Roundnose
I don’t know which model. The cab might be a coachbuilt special. I cannot find any photos of vehicles with the two lamps in the header rail- yet.

Merci monsieur Anorak…With the two Scania, it makes sense …I’d love to know what they’re carrying in those tanks in such a remote spot…

pete smith:
Hi Dave,
We both ok thanks,
Plan B sounds the best, I will bring them some step ladders!! Anon 1
You tell 'em then…
I’ll hide behind a cushion like Whippersnapper does…I hate the sight of blood, even if its not mine…
How brave of you Senior! Reckon we need an XXL cushion if Pete needs hiding too eh

2 for the price of one!
The Scammell for Patrick and the Intertrail was one of John’s ( Saviem ) companies,
Ta mate! Doesn’t that Crusader look like it would eat that Scanny for breakfast? I’ll get me coat…
How about this one then? Is that Johnny in the passenger seat asking " PV why aren’t we in a Scania, instead of this noisy heap of [zb]"?!
Nah, wasn’t owt like that, nor was it about gearchanges Senior (Allison 'box fitted with torque converter you see…)
Tried to explain the workings of a low loader and steerable axles to Johnny for the 7th time… but instead of talking about proper kit, Johnny is always on about scanny’s and fridges… so I just gave the engine a bit more revs like, couldn’t hear a bloody word he was saying

Only the 7th time■■? So now I know why you revved it up. If only you"d said something instead of nattering away about hating Scanias and ice boxes!
