1977 and 1982 - berliet became Renault Véhicules Industriels from Apr 1980 onwards.
The R360 has Berliet’s V8, is essentially a re-badged TR350…

This motor belongs to Guillaume who lives around Valence. Originally a Swiss lorry, she was kept in immaculate shape by a fairground operator who sold her on three years back or so. Only some 340’000 kms from new I believe
As usual, clicking on the pictures puts them upright!

Norbert’s TR305. The TR305 was an uprated TR280 through addition of intercooling. From April 1980, this would become yhe Renault R310.

Cracking set of pic’s there David, cheers!
Bit too modern for most regulars of this thread maybe, but always loved those Volvo NH models…

Stuff the auto box…but the clogs are good… …perhaps on your trips you could “collect a few parts” and then I can build one “a little bit at a time”…

Sounds like a plan…er…hang on…
To be honest, don’t see much F88’s/89’s out and about any more…last one I’ve spotted was last year in Castets, maybe that one is up for selling…? Does need some “attention” though…
Old colleague of mine is still very much into “adventure” sort of driving, so he’s done a couple of trips in Ethiopia…quite a different world up there…
Davidoff:
You are right there Froggy, it was a GCK. Well spotted. You have a keen knowledge of the old marque it seems! Did you perchance drive these motors yourself in your career?
Aged now almost 62, I did drive quite a few Berliet during my career, including GAK, GBK, GLR 160, GLM 10 6x4 M3, GBH 260, TR 280. I appreciated the Relaxe cab, quite spacious and comfortable. Below is a GBH 260 (1975) I had at a time when I worked for the local Cooperative. Fitted with a “roll-on roll-off” cable-operated skip.

I guess your friend got through a few tyres in those roads. Where did the adventure/journey begin from?

Where are those pictures from Patrick? Could it be Ethiopia?
David
Aye, it’s Ethiopia David, most trips started in Djibouti though, that’s where the main docks are situated and they collected the loads.
Last week I’ve done a trip with one of the lads who was there as well for nearly two years, he told me that on one particular trip they’ve suffered quite some punctures…had to change some 8 wheels and covered just 50 clicks…
Due to the bad road conditions they sometimes struggled to even manage a average of 100 clicks…a day…
Froggy55:
Really great, the report on Ethiopia! I now feel almsot like if I had been there myself!
Davidoff:
True adventure that. Beautiful pictures.
And the guy will have memories for life.
Thanks for posting Patrick
Cheers lads! Next time I meet up with him I’ll make sure he knows about your appreciation
