We’ll have to rustle up an old fodder 12 speed with the manual auxiliary for you , see if you could find them all before the box exploded .

Hello young Johnny…many that’s for the photo and description of that hooligan auto driver, posters being made up as we speak…hope you haven’t pre-paid for his ticket to the museum, don’t think he’ll be needing it, still, get him a pamphlet and he can read it while he’s recuperating…
pv83:
Going senile already Pete, I never asked for a [zb] auto 'box in the first place, and still am quite capable of shifting through the gears thank you very much![]()

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, hit a nerve there Pierre… don’t worry though, if I can get to him before my bodyguards do, I’ll show him how to use one…on an old Eaton 10 speed…with floppy linkage…
Many that’s…? hmmmmm you probably wanted to write many thanks then I reckon…old age messing about with your brain then eh…or do you’ve got shaky fingers…

An old Eaton with floppy linkage? Haven’t got anything more challenging in mind then eh

How about a Scammell gate change or a shagged out Foden cable change then Patrick? There is nowt wrong with our brains we can both remember what we did last week, its the week before we struggle with mate!

Hiya,
Or a gate change with the gate removed to speed up the changes, Oh’ and if you’ve only driven one with the gate in-situ previously and jumping into my motor when I’ve been taking my holidays and having forgotten to replace the said gate before clocking off for a fortnight, I remember one driver telling the guvnor “a bit of the gearbox was missing”.
thanks harry, long retired.
Best taken off Harry , flipping thing rattling in the gate all day , Scammels weren’t known for a. smooth ride and it sounded like Quasimodo’s bells by the day’s end .
Pierre, Harry, Rigsby…all excellent suggestions ref gearboxes, however, came across a slight snag, had a life size wanted poster of Whippersnap ( thanks to that really nice, polite, respectful young gentleman Herr Sutherland) made up and posted around the towns nearest Locomotion, got a call from the local Mayors office saying it had to be taken down immediately as it was scaring little children and old ladies and their poodles…however, pretty sure he’ll be identified easily by his colourful clogs, and dealt with swiftly and effectively by the “girls” … .
Now, ever since we’ve been here I’ve passed this old girl rotting away in a yard not far from us, the other day went out to test the bike after a service and tune up, took the camera with me and stopped off to get some pics. Saw the owner who use to run the old mill, been in the family since 1810, originally for flour, then for animal feeds. The old wooden paddle wheel was converted to power a large generator, big enough to power the whole Mill…around the corner in another shed was the old Volvo, in surprisingly good nick, cab, body, and chassis, but the turbo had gone and messed up the engine, so it took early retirement. He closed the Mill in 2008 almost 200 years from when it first started operating…
A few rather sad pic’s…
On the same day as the Mill photo’s I saw this Romanian registered Magnum still earning a living, and also as a surprise, the driver was having his 48 hrs off in a hotel just around the corner…He’s a regular visitor to this area loading out of the paper factory close by, don’t think France is very hot on drivers sleeping in the wagon for their 48’s, but nice to see the guy not having to, must have a decent governor…

Oh don’t start on cable operated ones Pete, drove a Volvo once with that set-up…what a joy to drive that was…
Don’t worry about forgetting things mate, happens to me all the time…er…what was the question again…?
Alright, for everyone that’s having an eye out to spot me, this is what I look like (although I’ve lost some hair over the years I must admit…), now, I might look familiar to some of you, so be aware of the dog
Can we now crack on with the show then please, there’s more important stuff to discuss
Gearboxes and gearchanges for example…
That Romenian bloke must be a owner/driver then Fergie? First time I’ve heard of those lads using a hotel to spent their 45h rest in…?
Is that a Yamaha perchange? Reckoned you’d be more a of Vincent, BSA, Norton, Triumph man…

NO…unless us oldies get a profuse apology…and you organise a massive ■■■■ up, and a blank cheque made out to us for “hurt feelings”. not that I remember any, but the money will be handy…
PLUS…you buy the coffees at Loco…

No, he wasn’t an OD…that was the surprise, the contract must pay well running the paper (cigarette paper for roll-ups), seen the Magnum a few times in the last year or two, seems tidy and up together, I guess they’re not all bad…
It is indeed a Yamaha, couldn’t afford an old British bike at today’s prices, rode enough of them when I was a nipper to last me a life time…and at least the Yam is ultra reliable…

Apologies■■? Buying coffee■■?
Alright, here we go;
To whomever it may concern,
I’m terribly sorry to have hurt your feelings, I know you’re all at a respectable age and therefore are more then right to correct me on certain matters.
Unlike what you lot might think, I’ve got the upmost respect for what you’ve done, and in some cases still do. The job was surely a tad harder, the drives a bit more uncomfartable, the gearchanges (oh no, not that subject again…) more “nifty”. But you all gained excellent knowledge and expertise over the years, for us whippersnappers to learn from.
I salute you all and wish all the best for you and your loved ones.
Now, about buying coffee, not a chance mate, I loath the stuff! A proper brew on the other hand isn’t going to be a problem though…

Well, there are still good ones out there, but as in most cases, the other ones are the party poopers…
Talking about reliable, ever worked on Harley’s? Absolute rubbish that is…proper sound though…

That was some grovelling Whippersnap…8/10. …have to put it to the vote from the rest of the old retards…the cups of teas swung it for me…hope you’ve got lots of Gilders
Never ridden or had anything to do with Harleys, they’re for old men and wannabe Hell’s Angles…

Hi Patrick,
Put a “real” picture on please, I did and a lot of members on here was very grateful as they pinned them on their fireplaces to keep the kids away from the fire!
Cable changes even on those Volvo’s could be a nice work out if the cables seized,

Fergie, I’ll give Patrick 9/10 for the apology, it would have been a 10 but he spoilt it by mentioning Harleys!
