And here she is in full activity!

And here again. Carrying some further French steel from yesteryear…
When I see something as good as that, it makes me sad to see the lorries in the graveyards that were left to rot away to nothing…I take my hat off to anyone who saves them, it’s an expensive passion, they spend money on them, and eventually takes them to shows for us to enjoy…so a thank you to all those lads that do, it’s appreciated…

Alright…back to normal again…
You’re spot on about the people that are “saving” any lorry Fergie, I’ve restored some cars and money-and storage wise that already costs a few quid…
A deep bow to all on the preservation scene…I salute you…
A couple of "Oh ■■■■ " moments in those photos there Dean.

A 100% Berliet fleet! Mostly TR 250 with the “Relaxe” cab, but the one on the left is a TR 260; I passed my licence on the same model in 1980.Hello Froggy
You say the motor in the front is a TR260.
But if I look very closely on that picture, I cannot see the three little horizontal vents in the front panel, in between the radiator grill and the windscreen.
The absence of those three little vents was the distinctive feature of the TR300 with its (very fragile) V8. Apart from that they looked identical to the TR260 with its Trilex rims (“roues artillerie”). Yes, at the same time the V8 badge is missing but they were known for their tendency for falling off anyhow…
What do you think?
[I do realise this is the saddest form of geekiness…]

DavidIt’s all about the detail…

Thanks guys for your perspicacity! I browsed through my Berliet files to check about these extra vents I had never noticed before. First, the “artillerie” front wheels were fitted only on the TR 260 and 300, and these two models were fitted only with that kind of wheels. The disc wheels were fitted from the TR 280 and TR 320 (a more reliable version powered by the V8 engine).
Here’s the sale leaflet of the TR 260: no extra vents!
Now, there’s another TR 260 with the vents!
I just guess the extra vents were added at a time, to provide either a better engine cooling, or to improve the cab heating. Here’s the inside of the TR 260, supposed to be “the best cab in the world”! Certainly a great improvement in 1970, and still a very spacious cab nowadays.
Another picture from the Berliet TR 260 leaflet.
TR brochures often showed pictures of the wrong model. They looked similar enough. Spot the odd detail here:

Great photos DeanB!!! Some impressive driving on some of them. I did wonder how much planning went in to the route. Did they know it was going to be so tight, or were there a few worried people.

A theme to work with…Berliets…all with vents …except one !!..
The ones with the headlights in the bumper, I’ve got a pic somewhere of one with twin headlights…so much better…
Berliet 6 X 4
Renault 6 X 4 with funny front wheels
Berliet 4 X 2 funny front wheels and no vents and a V8 badge…
A classic shot of the Blanc from the Aosta side, anyone who ever travelled this route in the '60’s - '70’s will no doubt have taken a similar photo, I know I did…
Some one posted recently pic’s of a Citroen 6 wheeler / just found the photos of the 8 wheeler in the garage just up the road from us, he also tows a car trailer as well…

Planning? Planning?! It sometimes takes months before they give the “all clear sign” and they hand over the permit mate!
It’s still going to be tight though, from what I’ve experienced…

Amazing how things resurface from time to time Dave.
Pic No 3 - “Berliet 4 X 2 funny front wheels and no vents and a V8 badge” is actually Xavier’s TR300 which appears in those videos I posted (the VERY same vehicle) prior restauration! The last known survivor.
