One of my informants reported that there were several complaints, about this older looking chap that went skiing with some sort of vehicle…in Chamonix…after showing some footage to the spectators some of them recognised the vehicle in question and pointed out that this particular chap started to modify his tractor in his shed some time ago somewhere in departement 56…could be departement 29 either, apparently the man is known as “Fergie” and has got quite a reputation…
This man is to be considered very dangerous, in case you do stumble upon him, watch out for his walking cane, which he mostly uses to smack people on the head, preferably whippersnappers…

Oi!!! You were supposed to be on my side Johnny…your half of the whippersnapper team, don’t you forget!
He’s hedging his bets, incase he meets Mrs Fergie when she’s in a bad mood…

Can’t mean me…I live in 29…bet you have to use a sat nav to find your way around, like all the other children…
Popquiz question of the week, or better for next week since we already had a question for this week…er…nevermind the details…more importantly, what is it, and doesn’t that thing on the right just looks utter utter ugly…

Richard, got sent a batch of pic’s from my buddy in the Loire last week, sat sorting them out day and these two popped up, were they yours ? if so they’ve been on a French forum, so you’re famous, if not, then you’re not …
Hi Dave,
Yes both mine, the first one is an exhibition trailer for Carrier Refrigeration we picked it up in Southampton and dropped it at their factory in Manheim Germany, the second one is an excavator we picked up in Milan and delivered to Dublin. We got to Dublin on the Monday having collected it in Milan on the previous Friday, the old boy at the factory said “You should have been here Friday” I said “We only loaded in Italy on Friday so we couln’t have done” No he said on Friday there was 26 of us in the depot but on Friday night they made 25 people redundant so there’s only me to help you unload !!
I said we were going to get Patrick to do it on his low loader, but he’s still at school

Bet you still cheat at school, looking over Johnnie’s shoulder instead of learning geography, particularly the Breton region of France…

The pretty one is an FBW, dunno about yours .
I’m still nursing a suspiciion that the cab on the miltary-looking one in the previous quiz had something to do with Saurer, but am struggling. Was it Saurer who made those rounded cabs, with flat 'screens that were shrouded by the edges of the roof panel. IIRC, they licensed that cab out to FAP and at least one Western maker. Brain cells going rusty. Grrr.
Thanks, but I’d rather drive across Europe with Dave’s F 12 rather than that F 7 with its miserable Renault cab! Having been obliged to drive them, I truly feel sorry fot the chaps who drove them all year round!
Did Nicolas offered a drink to drivers before they left their premises?
My Saurer research revealed that, in addition to Swiss Saurer, there was an Austrian Saurer and a French one: poidslourds.free.fr/viewtopic.ph … 6&start=10
The Austrian ones seem tp have a less-rounded cab, but that might just be my square eyes after a day of old lorries! Saurer France was part of Unic at some stage, so one of the sites said.

Initially, this truck, civilian or army version, was produced by Ford-France (Ford-SAF). When Simca (a French branch of Fiat created in 1935) took over Ford-SAF, the trucks were rebadged Simca, and fitted with a new cab. The mechanical part remained Ford, with the side-valve petrol V8, though Hispano-Hercules diesels were also available on the civilian market.
