Little suckers…by that you mean the presence of the most stunning, jaw dropping, aye, sexiest car that ever set foot (tyre) on the French motorway, surely…

Alpine A110…what a cracking little beauty of a car that was…and still is…

There is a very good display of A110 and A310,s at the Motor Museum at Le Manoire at Lohec (35 ) and for Fergie a very good Creperie on the cross roads below Renault Sport before Le Manoire

Remember these?

Remember those DS Ambulance Citroens doing the French papers to London every night cruising at 100 MPH and brining the English papers back to Paris.

That’s the Museum, been a few times now, cracking place…

Remember these?

There’s one in the village, owned by a classic Citroen garage, but it’s got 3 rear axles, he uses it to recover old cars back for repair…quite a beast, although looking a bit tired…

Hello Gentlemen

I spent last weekend in Perth / Western Australia and was able to take a few shots of these monster wagons.
Patrick / PV83 - this will appeal to you I am sure!

Personally I had never seen a load that large and they really seemed quite easy about it - only one escorting vehicle with his warnig lights opening up the way but no police presence etc.

This may not immediately be connected to SAVIEM vehicles but I am sure our late friend SAVIEM would have loads to say about these beautiful vehicles and the Australian industry which relies so much upon his former employer MACK…

Great photos David, as you say, I’m sure Saviem would have loved them.

What were you doing there? Surely not buying cocoa beans?

John

Looks marvellous (and an R8 1300 Gordini!) Will have to make a good effort to visit.Thank you Gents.

Hi John,

It’s been a while. I hope you are keeping well.
I was in Shanghai the whole week before and in Singapore Monday and yesterday. The weekend was either weekended in Singapore or going the extra mile and visiting my friends in Perth. Easy decision decision really!

And whilst I was there I also took a few more pictures - including this splendid Ford Falcon Futura which, if my internet research is correct, is a mid-sixties model. And Australia-built!!!

Pic of the day for me mate, ta!

Top picture Patrick!!

Found another pic…angle isn’t very helpfull again… :unamused:

Couldn’t it be a Mercedes perchange? The rear windows don’t seem to fit with the Deutz…?

It’s a Mercedes, a LPS315 to be exact. I wouldn’t put too much weight on the little details, since this is Mercedes’ first forward control design and the cabs were essentially coachbuilt and differ from one to another. This one in particular also has a modified roof adapted to hauling cranes as seen in the second picture.

Well-solved, Barreiros! Robert

Great Ford!

It has been a while. September 2015. Here are you and Glenn, coming past our house on Abbey Road on the ■■■■■■■■■■ run.
All the best
John

It was not far from where we used to live , the also have a brilliant display of Ferrari’s, a really good day out for 5 euros , closed from 1200 to1400 Edit to add : I see the price has now gone up to 7 eur , not bad as Beaulieu is now £19 and its not the National Motor Museum any more , Gaydon is the National Motor Museum now .

Fergie47:
Barreiros, …you obviously have an interest in classic lorries, do you have one ?

I wish I had one. I’m a model builder, so I do a lot of research to get things right, it’s half of the fun actually.

A few pic’s would be good, especially if they’re “foreign”… Haven’t got the patiences for model building, but I’ve seen some incredible results from those that do…if the photo is taken in the right setting and perspective, it’s nigh impossible to distinguish then from the real thing.

Fergie47:
A bunch of mixed B&W pic’s

An unexpected surprise this morning, with such a bunch of most interesting pictures! The fun-fair truck parked in front of “l’Optique Moderne” is registered in Italy; I’d even say Lancia.

What about the blue RHD truck with the split windcsreen? Probably Italian too, and I’d say Fiat 690 N2. Anyway, thanks for that very good way of starting a day!

Hello again Gentlemen

I have some good news : For the first time since 2014, this year we will again have an edition of LA LOCOMOTION EN FÊTE.

Some details:

  • Where? aérodrome de Melun Villaroche (77) which is
here. This is a new location - the previous airstrip was no longer eligible for obscure admin reasons, which is why this event was not held the past two years.
    Google Maps
  • Date: the weekend of June 9th to 11th.
  • Last edition saw some 1600 participants exposing their vintage vehicles and devices across all possible categories - from classic cars to military to agricultural, and of course a sizeable HGV plateau. The French collector scene may not always enjoy the same international reputation as the British or Dutch, but this show is the best proof that France too has its share of impassionaied, competent, dedicated amateurs who spend countless hours and Euros on bringing their motors to back to their original condition, sometimes better.

I shall be there along with the rest of my Z-Team, namely ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ with his Volvo F12, Dover-Terry with his Scammell Crusader, Scunthorpe-Neil with his Scania 92 (or perhaps he might take his 143), and we may also have Nicky Armstrong with his Italian-reg Trannie and his son Robert with his recently-restored OM.

It is a show worth contemplating - lots of vintage eye candy on display. Plus of course the usual French art de vivre including some very nice food being served on the various stands.

Dave/Fergie intends to join us as a visitor, and I helped him locate a nearby hotel, which still has some rooms available.
Froggy 55, if 55 stands for the Meuse Département then it should be less than a 3-hr drive for you!

In case any of you would like to attend and you need some information on practical arrangements or translation to French, I am happy to help.

Maybe see you in Melun on Jun 9th. It certainly will be a fun time.

Best regards

Ey up!

Cheers for posting those pic’s mate, quite enjoyed looking at it over me “brekky”…bit odd though that they didn’t had more pilot cars around…? It’s probably the Aussi way to do things…

And then there’s that Falcon…what a stunning car…always thought that it had bit of a “gangsters” look… (terribly sorry lads, bit of a petrolhead I’m afraid)

And then there’s the news about the best party France has ever seen, don’t reckon there’s a better way to start the day after reading that

Er…not sure about this one, but does it says that 50t per axle was the limit…?

I’m a modelbuilder by trade and I’m mainly providing parts for other enthusiasts, so you might be a bit disappointed by what I do. But anyway, here’s my Flickr page. Plenty of “foreign” stuff though. I’m German, so the Brits are also foreign for me.
