, but visiting this thread feels like going to the pub and meet some old (quite literally in some matters ) mates…
And young friends too…
Dave,
This is what these “young 'uns” get upto, this is Patrick pulling a wheelie whilst showing off to some young girls out of shot!!
That’s him still learning clutch control Pierre, you know what these nippers are like, …I’ve told him, let the clutch out GENTLY.and ease the throttle in…they never listen to their elders… bloody kids.

Thought I was in the clear when I took of…Didn’t recognise you there Pete…behind that rock…
But a stunning wheelie like that does most certainly impress those lasses
No need to use that clutch Fergie, just put it any gear and of you go…with full throttle
Talking of Les Routiers rabbit: I used to use the relais at Freteval just north of Vendome on the RN10 sometimes - middle of nowhere, we used to call it ‘The little house on the prairie’. Anyway, I couldn’t think of the word for ‘rabbit’ (lapin) so I mimed with my fingers on my head and made funny mouths. The two young waitresses left giggling and came back with a plate of sheep’s brains. I ate the lot! The two DTS drivers who stopped with me will remember the occasion. Robert
I do wonder what gestures you’ve made Robert
But more importantly, how did the sheep’s brain tasted?

Washed down with lashings of vin de table and a few side vegetables it was very pleasant! Then it was off up the road in the afternoon to Chateaudun and the Channel ports - and I didn’t even go down with ovine spongiform encephalopathy (mad sheep disease)! Robert

Ever ordered a “andouilette”?
I was brave enough to do so, was a plat du jour as well, and I did ate the whole thing…but absolutely drained it in ketchup as well…never ordered it again…

Les vins des table ‘Poulenc’ is the solution! Slosh the nosh down with lashings of it! Robert
This one must have been taken in Belgium. From left to right: Scania, Volvo, but what’s the one one the far right? The cab looks pre-1950. I’ll eventually try to get some information on my usual French Forum.
Now, this one looks like a re-cabbed Renault AH; I’ll try to know more.
Froggy55:
It looks you British are better in offering unusual pictures taken in France! Nice ones in your last batches, Fergie.

And this is a Somua JL 17 fitted as a mobile workshop for the RATP (Paris public bus operator).
Thanks for the info Froggy…that third truck on the right in the first picture, is it a Büssing perhaps ?
I’ve visited the Broshuis works today, a well known name in the heavy haulage industry when it comes to proper trailers, they’d opened their doors today for the public to see what they do and build, quite interesting indeed…
Here’s the initial model, introduced in 1940 mainly for the French Army, enven if its main customer was… the Wehrmacht! A very basic and crude truck designed for the hard times to come. Simple to build and repair, it was produced until 1950.
This 6-wheeler AHZ prototype was made for use on the site of the Renault factory at Billancourt, and powered by a gas generator (gazogène) using charcoal.
Don’t know what to make of this either…sometimes it’s just for the best some things don’t end up on the production line I reckon…
Only good thing about it is that it seems to be fitted with Robert’s favourite weapon of choice…
