Blimey Fergie, how much weight was your Massey Ferguson pulling with the crane on. Impressive!

Patrick, some top DAF archive photos there. The prototypes are really interesting.

Not enough, in the last photo it doesn’t show the second trailer I’m reversing to connect up to, no point hauling half empty… …unlike some of these Dutch convoi exceptional drivers we see today…
Man oh man Fergie. Is your tractor turbocharged and supercharged and whatever else can be charged? Or is it purely the skill of the man behind the wheel!!
Gruss

It’s probably fitted with a Gardner engine Johnny…you see, those Froggies always take their time to get things done…past and present

You two whippersnappers wanna watch it, start showing a bit of respect to your elders, neither of you are that old that you can’t suffer a sudden cot death…
Sorry Fergie. I am Just a bit in awe of your transport business equipment’s pulling power.

Most interesting stuff, as usual! I especially love the 10x10 DAF Icelandic touring coach, and the picture featuring two pre-WW II Renault draggers at the Borel premises; I had never seen that picture before!

I bet it was a horrible ride at the back. The chassis looks like an 8 wheeler, with an added-on steer axle, so the thing will pivot about the original rear bogie- up and down, left and right. Pass the bag again, dear.

Whipper snappers…? Whipper snappers…! Blimey mate, haven’t heard that word for some 30 odd years…Didn’t know there were still people out there using it…shows your age a bit I reckon… mind you, I’ve penned all this down with the upmost respect towards the elderly…

It came to life as a tipper, or so I was told. The coach conversion didn’t appear before it reached the (cold, no doubt) Icelandic shores… imagine your taking your newly wed missus onto a honeymoon trip to Iceland and you’re being chauffeured around in that whilst sitting at the back…quite a test for the rest of the marriage wouldn’t you say…
High flying Fergie…

Hi Fergie, have this among Commer pics, no idea of copyright ownership, if anybody claims and objects, I will remove it, interesting to the point you make(correctly) in regard to Superpoise limits.
OilyThe wheels, axles, headlamps and badge look similar:
The similarity to the Büssing in the same fleet must not go unnoticed- the cabs are indeed very similar. However, I cannot find another Büssing with a cab like that, so I must assume that both cabs were built by or for Camerman, and the chassis are indeed what the photographs’ filenames declare.
Hey Anorak,
Here two Büssing roofs, made and designed by Philemond Camerman. They did everything with old trucks, and even did repair after war for the US army.
Eric,
Hey Anorak,
The company was one of the biggest after war, and not only as a haulier.
Transport of al goods, big, wide, liquid, dangerous or not, gas and so on. Under de names S.A.Camerman N.V.
and Transports Generaux.
Workshop own park, army forces, and private.
Selling car and trucks of the Chrysler group, Sumbeam, Dodge, Commer and so on.
German brands as Henschel and Büssing.
Fuel stations around Antwerp.
After oil debacle (crisis) mid '70’s, one brother went his own way and build its hotels, which wasn’t successfully.
The haulage company went to Ferrymasters which sold it later to the Dutch company Stuy & Deman which calles it
Europa Express. And a group which later became a part of Willy Betz.

Thanks again for good information. I guess we can assume that they had the ability to put one of their own cabs on any chassis- even a Commer?

Already in “higher spirits” then…and it’s not even Christmas yet… thought you “elderly people” were to set an example for us youngsters…
