In a recent truck mag there was a review of truck specific sat navs,but, are there any available that incorperate traffic monitering as well■■?
I use a tomtom 540 that’s running the truck navcore and maps, this also uses the live traffic system.
I don’t normally alter my route due to traffic conditions as they change all the time, but the knowlege of closed roads has saved me MANY miles.
any tom tom with live sevices that take an sd card for maps can use the truck software.
just buy the tom tom truck 7000 sd card and replace the original sd card. simples
Thanx for the advice guys,got caught out just before xmas,left thurrock to go back to our yard in luton,sallys telling us big ques from j4 to j13 of the M1,i detoured up the A1 & across on the A602 thru hitchin,when i got back to the yard another driver had driven up from park royal without even slowing down till the roadworks at j10,wana try & avoid this in the future if posible hence the question.

With a £159 price tag!
Bear in mind it is a European map at that price so you are getting a lot of coverage for the money if your just buying the map
As for tmc non is perfect even hd traffic runs behind
I think most modern sat navs can provide live traffic info for a fee. I wouldn’t have thought it’s that easy to view the “larger picture” though. Traffic Master used to do a colour monitor that was great for viewing traffic flow nationwide, nice big touch screen. They’ve stopped doing them now though as I think they were too big for most car users but ideal for a truck, mine went kaput a while back and I couldn’t replace it, loved it.
