Satnav repair service

Recently managed to crack the screen on my snooper so I’m on maps until I can get it repaired.

Has anybody heard anything about or used satnavrepairservice.com/

I can’t find reviews that aren’t on their website, the address that it’s registered with is a home address in london too, not some sort of office.
Thanks,

google it on maps and then street view. its a shop and looks established not brand new so should be ok. your call i guess but seems ok.

Why not do DIY?

I didn’t even see that address on the contact page, I found the registrant address. Guess I jumped the gun slightly.

I suppose it’s a legit company then

That ebay site is by the same people, honestly I don’t really want the hassle of possibly breaking it further and having to take it apart and putting it back together, I just need it working again. :stuck_out_tongue:

just sent my sat nav to them, got an email from them saying they have received it,if it cant be repaired you dont pay anything except postage.

Best way to service a sat nav ? … Hit it with a hammer.
If you need a sat nav to find your way around give up driving.

Is that because “proper truckers” dont need them?
Use everything available to make the job easier! Do maps warn you of traffic congestion along your route? Saves time & money!

For the record, I’ve been using only maps for the past two weeks without any issues because of this. :stuck_out_tongue:

Only problem I found was a bridge on map as 13’ 3" and actually turned out to be 12’ 9". Managed to find a route round it fine though.

as above, if it makes my job easier then why shouldn’t I use a sat nav?

Things have changed in the world of trucking and these days time is money, the quicker people get round, the more they earn. My previous job delivering carpets for an absolute ■■■■■■■ of a firm took 14/15 hours a day WITH a sat nav, it would have taken 2 days without it.

love it pat
keep me entertained but dont get lost in the process.
come back to blighty mate and with all the road changes and nimbys you will need a satnav to avoid them.
happy days mate

To say you need a sat nav to see any delays is just dumb ! Most smart phones have a free map app which when you select ‘TRAFFIC’ mode will show any delays on the route yu are taking. I always check the map before setting out and when on route I can check it at any time. If you have a decent phone why waste money on something that is a waste of time ?
Most of the people I know that have sat navs just have it for show LOL, most ask me how to get there anyway because they don’t trust the things LOL.
I have 2 sat nav on my phone, one of which is a truck route one, I have only used it 3 or 4 times in 2 years and only when I was about 5 miles away from the destination and … those occasions were in NYC which if you have ever driven there would explain why

Horses for courses, as they say. If you are a “one drop wonder” or better yet, taking several days to travel between single drops on relatively uncongested roads, having live traffic info on a Satnav is indeed probably of little or no advantage (until the day the accident etc happens 20 miles ahead of you, just after you last checked your smartphone Traffic info…).

TBH, unless you have actually driven on UK roads on a regular basis with a /decent/ live traffic system on a proper truck satnav, you’re hardly in any position to pass judgement on the “daftness” of such an arrangement

Why is it dumb? I dont have to pick my phone up whilst driving, the sat nav just pings it up! The added bonus with my sat nav, it doubles up as a tv. But, I suppose your map does that as well? And don’t say your phone is also a tv because we all know they can stream live tv!

Totally agree Pat. I’m sure as a fellow technophobe you’ll appreciate the lengths I’ve gone to to eradicate this creeping menace of technology; like me you’ve undoubtedly got rid of the 46 inch HD widescreen and replaced it with a nice 8 inch black and white, the washing machine also had to go, my how my partner chuckles as she carries the washing down to the local stream to beat it off rocks! Obviously the fridge had to go too and I’ll be honest, the food poisoning took some getting used to! But hell Pat, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger eh? We’re also looking forward to our technology free next holiday too, and to that end we are busily hollowing out some logs so we can row our way across the ocean to meet up with our new Amish friends who we regularly correspond with via pigeon post!

Don’t forget to have words with your boss and get them to take out the air-con, cab heater, electric windows, bunk, radio, power steering, ABS etc - Real drivers have no need of such toys!
