Anyone got or used the specially designed for truck satnavs?
been looking at getting one as im starting to do european stuff now, and my current one is uk only…so instead of upgrading my car one, wouldnt mind investing in a proper truck one.
you will prob get all different kinds of answers as everyone has their own preference, but i have got the tom tom 7000, works great and have had no problems with it so far… the only reason i went for tom tom was because i have had a few car versions and they have never let me down, the tom tom does seem to be a bit more expensive than some others, but as i said, different people have different preferences.
I use a snooper s7000. Can’t recommend it enough. Haven’t used it in europe though so can’t comment on that side. Screens a good size. I came from a Tom Tom car one, and my snooper took a bit of getting used to but after that I can’t fault it. Quite expensive though which is a downside. Only thing that annoys me with it is when you use it as a map it’s a bit slow to the touch. Hope thus helps.
hi,ive got both the tom tom 7000 and the snooper 7"truck special built in radio and tv!both good sat navs for trucks but for ease of use out of the box so to speak the tom tom.
ive used the s7000 in europe and its spot on couldnt fault it at all.The only problem i have with it is when driving in london, where it wont send you down 18t limits which are from 6pm to 6am and it thinks its a 24hr ban
How do you think we all got anywhere befor sat navs were invented ? Most are not completely acurate anyway. Get a good truck road atlas for a fraction of the price and if you can’t find a certain address in a certain town phone them or ask for directions.
I have never had a sat nav, never will have a sat nav… driven lorries since 1975 all over the UK, Europe and the USA, never needed any stupid sat nav. Real drivers don’t need them.

Oh God!!!. I wondered how long it would take , whenever any body on here asks a constructive question about sat-navs, you ALWAYS get the old “buy a map routine” Do you still write with a quill, do you have a black & white tv, casette player, ride a horse to work, for Christs sake change the record (or Mp3 track )

since my PDA has suddenly decided to die, I`m looking at buying a new TOMTOM on the business account, and let the accountant & taxman pay for it…but the question is which one?

A ‘good truck road atlas’ is unlikely to list every little street. Stopping to ask for directions can often cause jams and
take up valuble time.
Finding a working BT phone box to make a call might be a challenge in some areas.
