I drive a MAN. I use a Tom Tom one version3 Europe sat-nav.Does anybody share the same problem as me. Some days it works ok others it loses GPS signal for no reason and only works when ignition is switched off -which isnt a lot of use. As soon as ignition is on again it goes off, This can last for days, until for no reason it starts working ok until next time.It aint sat navs fault as my mates does the same in my truck. MAN say fault too complicated to solve!! Can anyone help?
Try wiring it up direct from the battery, or from a different point in the fuse box. Give it it’s own ■■■ lighter socket.
does it have heated windscreen i know we had this problem in the old car.
I would suggest, whilst you are driving this truck, leave the sat-nav in the bag and revert to the old tried and tested way of doing things…Map reading

Driving a MAN TGA, using TomTom 520 with Trucks software, no problems at all.
I had trouble in the past with sat-nav signal. My unit got sent away as the fuel monitor information wasn’t downloading - something to do with a fault with the cab phone. The unit came back fixed but my sat-nav didnt work and my own personal mobile didn’t work, both had no signals in the cab
It was weird stuff

what a load of ■■■■■■■■ and yes it will get censored
who do you think you are being a smartass with comments like that ,the guy was asking a serious question
are you an "old world trucker/ sorry lorry driver■■?
well so am i 45 years on the road
grow up and go with new technology as well as using your brain once in a while
maps are great asking direction is great satnav is great, all used with sensible brain power
bloody fed up with the “old serious guys” berating satnav, 99.9% of all satnav cockups are driver error
end of my rant
roy try putting it on side window i have seen that work so it will help eliminate heated windshield etc, also try with an outdoor antenna that may help, about 15 quid on ebay
My mate has a renault laguna where the windscreen has some kind of coating on, his sat nav will not get a signal at all in his car.
Does the MAN have anything like that?
Do you connect to tomtom home often for the gps fix, it does make a diference.
Maybe you need an external aerial if none of the above help
I think the right name for that type of windscreen is “thermic reflecting” or some other such. New Peugeots have them which means you gotta buy an external aerial for most sat navs.

I am assuming that MAN have acknowledged that there is a problem then with you saying that■■?
If so and the vehicle is under warranty keep kicking off and shouting at them.
i had this problem when i was at Brits (RIM 075)
when close to other sat navs it knocked them out as well
never sorted problem had to use A-Zs

I agree 100% witht his reply. everytime any ever mentions sat nav or technology , the old back in my day routine or use a map routine, why should he use a map if he has sat nav.
Why use matches to light a fire when he could use a flint.?
why use a truck he could buy a horse. .
I bought an external arial for my tom tom from amazon found one on there for 2.95 !! I drive all sorts of trucks at work and the scanias seemed to interfere with my go 910 and my tom tom one as well . The sun visor seemed to get in the way of the GPS it sorted it out at the time, but , since I have updated them on the home software page they seem to not need it any more, I reset them and they work fine.
I would alo try using the 24 volt hella socket in the van just for the sat nav . the MAN’s we have at work all work fine using those but sometimes get interferance through the 12 volt ciggerette one.
Dont report it as a defect , I got nothing from mine when i tried, Our fitters think we should still use maps as well, (until your lost in the middle of nowhere and late for your drop , then they ask where your sat nav is!!
is my rant longer >?
It must be some strange foible. I drove a TGA with a TomTom One XL Europe and it worked spot on, every time. never let me down except when I put in the wrong village name.
