Sat nav thinks lorry's can't use A36

My sat nav as I mentioned before thinks I cannot use a section of the A36 and so does Road Lords. It diverts up the 360 and onto the 303 and it’s been doing this for over a year now and I have no idea why? Wtf is this happening???

It’s not the bridge as my lorry is much lower, even setting it really low it doesn’t like it still. Only when I say I’m driving a van will it let me use that section

It could be something to do with the 18 ton weight limit on Cleveland Bridge in Bath.

Anything over 18 tons has to divert via the A350 using Chippenham to the A46 then M4 to the M32 then the ring road on the eastern side of Bristol to the A4 to Bath.

I should add it rejoins the A36 after that section. I just ignores it and drives through and the sat nav hates it.

It could be a software issue.

is it a proper sat nav in which case which one. If its a garmin it might be an issue with the set up ie length number of axles etc. I know i had similar issues with mine it would suddenly take me off an a road and onto a more rural route that was running parallel with the a road.

Does it have issues with the dartford tunnel access road (a282)? I realise you dont deliver that way but you can always do it from your house to an address in essex and another in between if it insists on taking you round the north side.

Mines the same and that’s Tom Tom app set to 13’ 11” when running 20’s on splitter ,
Set back to 14’ 6” now

I ignore mine MOST of the time in my job…the factory fitted truck one.
It tries to send me around alternative routes to remote farms even though I know I can get there direct as I have been before.
Granted some of the roads aint exactly designed for big trucks by any means, but are still accessible.

Other times it will try and send me on a route I know is unsuitable, and in one particular case IMPOSSIBLE

As I’ve said on here many times,…They are ok as long as you do not TOTALLY rely on them or believe them, …as many do.

No problem with Dartford. Off to vange tomorrow. We cover up to bury st Edmonds then a line from there to Berkley, Plymouth, Dover, Margate and everywhere inside that area. Only got 3 depots that cover the UK that’s why we work 3 times harder than Tesco and Booker.
The unit satnav (also tomtom) has zero issues with that bit of the A36. And yes mines the Go professional truck too. Bloody useless thing.

My old Snooper would never route me round the north circular, no matter what height I set. I think it thought there was a 7.5 ton limit on it. It would route me in car mode. Perhaps your satnav has a similar glitch? will it route you up the A36 in car mode?

yea, car and van no problem. My sat nav thinks a lot of roads have weight limits. The road which becomes blackmans avenue in hastings is one. It has a side road with a limit but not on the main road. Its extremely frustrating.

You’ll just need to do what was the normal thing once over mate that we all had to do.
Just make judgements on the spot on the day by observing the signs and reading the road.
