Hi
I had a cheapo (from China !!) bought me last year(£79.00) - it has a truck function and does work reasonably well - allows you to enter height, weight , length - and does plot a route that avoids bridges, tight lanes etc.
What it doesnt do is - if you ignore (■■?) the planned route, for whatever reason, then it does not warn you if you are on a road with a low bridge etc - bit of a draw back !!
I tend to put destination in, but get more or less to my target before bothering with sat nav, so in a nutshell - cheap systems do work, but only if you follow to the letter !
Has anyone got one of the truck sat navs, are they any good, and what make would you recommend.Been thinking of buying one,but as they are so expensive, just thought i would get some feed back on them.
Thanks
Joe
Robertthegreat:
I have a Pronav PNN300 from this company pronav.co.uk/
How do you rate the Pro Nav?
Thanks
Mark…
I’d be intersted to know the same Robertthegreat.
Not had a problem with it but only sort of use it for end of the route if i have never been there before. The London routing is very good keeps you to the truck roads so no fines. Bridge heights excellent will route you round them. never sent me down a 7/5 tonne road. but i have never used other makes of sat nav . On the plus side customer services are very good helped me when putting on POI’s for Idust estates. they use the same software that Garmin and Snooper use. And its got speed cameras on it to free for the first 6 months then buy.Its cheaper than most £249
I’m getting hold of a second hand Tom Tom 730 and I’m going to put the Tom Tom truck software on it when it comes. Got all the bits I need to flash it to the truck software so I’ll see how it goes. All for less than £100.
I can’t justify the price for a new one, I don’t think I’ll use it enough. If it turns out I do then I’ll sell it and buy a new PNN300
