Samsung roadmate problems

Got a new (well 2008) lorry and has come with a built in microwave, only problem is it took about 10mins to just about cook a rustlers style burger and it would cut out after about a 1min maybe 90secs showing nC on the display, you then have press start again and keep doing it like that, anyone know why its doing this?

Thanks people.

nC = no current.

Someone on another board suggested checking the screws on the internal inverter - particularly the ground screw, the threads have been known to strip causing a lack of power and also risk of fire.

Ahh ok thanks, where will i find all this stuff?

Inside, open it up, tighten all screws, if any won’t tighten, replace it with a slightly bigger one.

Could also be the cable isn’t big enough if it’s never worked, but if it’s just conked out, that’s unlikely, but I’d still be checking the connections.

Ok cheers mate, think i’ll let the fitters handle this one, they’ve only just bought it, it looks like it mite be factory to my untrained eyes, its where the centre locker would be then theres a scania coffee maker in the left locker.

Sounds like an ex-maritime wagon, check for dirty socks on the vents lol

run your engine while using the microwave

Had several over the years yours is ■■■■■■ swap it with someone else on the fleet or take it to a guy round the m20 who is an expert on fixing them.

There is a shop near Ashford that repairs them, I spoke to him a while ago about 1 I had with the same fault code, he said it is probably the circuit board that needs replacing

He can test it and tell you exactly what is wrong with it and give an estimate for the repair

Can’t remember the name of the shop, but a google search for samsung roadmate repairs should bring it up

A quick google search

Microwave Service Co.

01303 813530

They do have a website showing what they do

Yeah maybe it is, its an r480 reg AY08…, been really well looked after still has the plastic wrap on the top bunk mattress.

Cheers for the replys, have tried it with the engine running but no different. Is it worth getting them repaired or just buy a new one?

Personally, I’d do without it, cooking in the cab = smelly cab + heat in cab and no microwave bing meal is healthy really. But, I did like having it there for my porridge in a morning.

Try what’s been suggested or get a quote on a repair, but don’t expect it to be cheap. If it needs replacing, you’d do better with a big arse inverter (fit using an anderson lead for service time) and a cheap microwave from tosco / asda / curry’s etc.

24v ovens are quite cheap too - but take FOREVER to cook a pie

i was told it could be anywhere up to £200 for a repair, but, when you consider that they retail at over £500 for a new one these days, yes, it is worth the repair

But 200 quid would get a good inverter and a cheapo microwave, and probably an oven too. And next time microwave goes bang, you just replace that instead of a 200 quid / 500 quid repair / replacement?

Hello came across this old thread and thought id point out that I can repair these microwaves and I charge 80 pounds plus 7.99 return postage  just incase anyone has a NC error; burning smell etc. Just drop me an in
box!
