Same old same old

Driveress raised an interesting point the other day asking where certain posters have disappeared to etc. I agree that there’s only about eight subjects that are regularly commented upon, so how about making it nine?

The job we do regularly and day to day becomes boring and mundane to us, but to others in different aspects of the industry actually are interested in seeing different roles and what they entail. We’ve all got assorted stuff on our camera rolls that could perhaps be interesting to others not in that particular field. So I’ll start the ball rolling.

I’m in the waste industry now so these pictures reflect my day to day.

Delivering chicken poo believe it or not. Farmers pay a premium for it

The price of our working environment unfortunately

I’ve had cream all week Moaster , been on Leeds to Burton i’m worried what’s coming next this good run will come to an end it can’t continue … not with my luck

I hate Drakelow with a passion! It’s not the actual tip itself it’s the 2x Burton on Trent plus the 2x Nottingham that I hate.

Load Stourton tip Drakelow reload Clover Nook sit at Stourton until someone wakes up tip reload for morning opposed to sitting at Ferrybridge or Stourton for hours on end .It drives me mad

Yeah with you on that mate, let’s broaden the present horizon of the forum.
We all basically do the same job, but there are endless variations to that ‘same’ job so let s hear some of them eh?

In my case …when you discover something that you actually like doing, you should do your utmost to keep it.
I reckon it’s best to do something you like over something you dont…(he said, stating the bleedin obvious.:joy: )

Just to bore you for a second talking about my favourite subject..me :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: :joy:..
From my pov it has told me something about myself that is out of character…
I aint known for being the most patient of blokes, or one who suffers b/s and d/heads lightly, but I have amazed myself just how much crap I take off a firm (who aint renowned for their attitude and treatment to drivers) just to keep doing a job I (almost) love…so I give 101% despite it all, and willinglly…so they can’t ask for anymore

Anyhoo that aside..
I deliver roofing sheets, and fabricated steel parts for farm buildings, to farms and fabrication firms around Cotswolds, Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Some of the (very) remote farms I go to have not got the best of access to say the least, so you need to be on your game …and definitely NOT rely on a sat nav.

I always phone ahead for access info, but trouble is I have discovered you can not always trust a farmer who is desperate to get his building or parts thereof delivered…So I have been in some hairy and dodgy scenarios quite regularly in terms of getting turned around to get back out…
But hey !.. I like a challenge.:joy:

I will go so far down on a Wed pm with up to 10 drops on, many of which I will know that are regular.
I have a book with about 120 pages of directions to different farms, sometimes I will get a drop I think I have not been to…but the relief and joy :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: when I trawl through my book and the step by step directions are there…yeah I’m easily pleased.

I have done this now for 10+ years, and have made some good mates down there…(all male, honest guv  ) who I will socialise with on nights out most weeks, a meal couple of pints, and maybe shoot some pool.
So yeah all good, no plans to leave …so far,or when I decide to call a day on trucking.
It definitely beats mundane ‘‘bog rolls to Tesco’’ type jobs, I am left to my own initiative, and just ring in when tipped…basically I am left alone with it all, which I like, so it is reminiscent and nearest thing to my Euro days.

I took a large cut in wages from my previous 2 jobs after redundancy, but money aint everything.
When I started here on general 15 years ago ffs ,it was only going to be temporary.

So if you get something you like, it makes life sooo much easier… plus on a 4 on 3 off pattern I get to spend more time at home with my lovely wife :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:…what a lucky girl eh? :joy:

A REGULAR occurence on my job…good job I can reverse.:joy:

I thought you were on fridges lol

I was. Got made redundant the Christmas before last, then took two months off, before finally giving into wifely pressure and getting a job with HZ Logistics again on fridges which was great fun but was night tramping 6 on 4 off. Once again wifely pressure made me leave there and get a job on walking floors for a company that’s less than a mile from my house.

Really enjoying it tbh. If I never set foot in an RDC again it’ll be too soon.

Winner winner :ok_hand:
