Have not been on road from Burgos to the Portuguese border for many years,what is like now,used to stop at Torredesilas.Used to have twin track then down to single lane to Portugal,at Villa Formoso.Do the locals still use the IP5 at Guarda to get to Lisbon,now there is a new road,that used to be Viseu/Mangulade road to Lisbon.In the evenings,there was an old guy on a moped,that would play a trumpet while driving along all over the road.Was very eccentric,before Villar Formosa.Whats the new road from the border to Porto like,as the old IP5,the construction company fled to Brazil with millions of EU money.Would take forever to get down the mountain at Guarda.Brake friction was a problem if heavy,you had to just take your time,while the locals would fly past you,with brakes on fire.Those GNR road police,allways on the look out for a foreign truck to scam,with a phoney fine of somesort.
Many a lunch had with ‘shady’ @ Tordesillas en route to Coruna/Lisbon, tho’ ‘the veg’ was probably the highlight on that road.
Dual carrigeway or motorway all the way now . Hardly seen a cop on the road the other week . Most of old stops still open but you have to come off onto old road usually .
