Just checking is there a preferred HGV route to Sainsburys at Sherburn? Not done it before.
Coming in Northbound A1.
Thanks
A63 off the A1.
As said stay on A1m dont come up the old A1(from ferrybridge services) there is a weight limit and the police often watch it, Stick to 40 too there has been a silver camera van nr south millford a lot in the last month or so caught a lot of drivers !
When your coming up Bishopdyke rd turn right into ind est when u see the warehouse or you will end up in car park or finding somewhere to turn around
Thanks JD and Danny.

Used to work there when it was Somerfields.
Best works canteen I have ever used, and subsidised. It was an outside caterer that ran it, but don’t know if it’s the same lot that run it now though.

Was it free for all to use?

No. Not when Somerfields ran the place, but it heavily subsidised to the workers.
It was that tight, even the coffee machines in the drivers room were card only. Many a time I bought an agency driver a brew.
Ken.
Drivers are still allowed to use the canteen. It’s good quality, and cheap as chips. Just round the corner from goods in.
I tipped there for the first time a few days ago when you go in you have 3 lanes the barrier on the right most lane is ■■■■■■ don’t use that lane they go bat ■■■■ follow the sainsburys trucks into the remaining two lanes you will need to go into the gate house for a map and briefing ambient is round the back follow the one way but watch for the roadworks on the right as you start to go round as once you are in them you can’t reall see what’s coming toward you for a little bit follow that to the end turn left follow that to the end left agin then find a holding bay visit goods in and wait to be bayed not sure about frozen side but the instructions about how to get there are spot on and yes watch for the ■■■■ in the van. Oh and on a brighter note tip times there aren’t too bad on ambient I was tipped inside of 5 minute yes 5 minutes I couldn’t believe it either was well chuffed

Thats good, any idea if they accept cash? Sainsbury Allington was good to us, got a pager & they showed you to the canteen…

Yep, they most certainly do.
I was in the canteen last week, outsiders are more than welcome, just park up, wander over and in thru the RH door at reception. Press the green button on the LHS of the next set of doors, then turn right into the canteen (or turn left if you want the loos). You`ll need to get someone to let you back out after you leave the canteen, the canteen is cheap, but serves reasonable good food with a different menu of roughly 3 main courses per day, + breakfast & teatime servings. IIRC I had meat+3 at lunchtime for around £2.50.
The menu for the week is posted up in advance, so you can read it as you walk in, its not the most splendid of choices, with the usual fish Friday, and a variation of meat, veg + Yorkshire pud on sunday. But theres usually pasta/pasta bake, cauliflower cheese, ■■■■■■■■■■ ring etc & chips/mash/boiled spuds etc. But its more than a match for the average Truck stop nosh
