Noticed yesterday that the sad Sed Atki that was sat with it’s drivers side window open in RAF Wittering has gone! That’s been there for bleedin years, I remember passing it when I was driving a Seddon.
Piece of history gone. Next thing is some bugger will take that old Lightning from the yard just south of Newark!
I’m guessing that your remark about the Lightning was tongue in cheek.
I noticed the Atki had never moved for a long time, and assumed it was being used as a shunter, but as I haven’t been down that way for a while, that is such a shame it has gone. You could stop and ask at the gatehouse what has happened to it.
How long has the old wrecker tow truck been in the field next to the old Langdons chiller depot by the M 5 in the Bridgwater Taunton area, it must be 40 years old with weeds and foliage growing inside and outside of it ?
3 wheeler:
Which decade do you remember with rose tinted glasses?
In its day it was ok…
The 400 and 401’s were a vast improvement over a lot of things in that day and age!
Always made me chuckle when someone on here referred to them as ‘Sudden Accidents’ rather than Seddon Atkinsons
Does anyone remember the old yellow transit van in the field just before Abington Svcs on the M74? It’s been there for years. I remember seeing it when I went down the road with my dad when I was younger. It looks like its rusted away to a little pile of scrap on the ground last time I passed it in the daylight.

allways thought the 401s were good looking motors, they looked like proper drivers wagons, todays wagons, too fancy, too many beeps and alarms going off if you do something wrong

It’s a Leyland Martian ex army - dates from the late 1940’s or early 50’s. It belonged to the garage/scrapyard which was on the site of what is now the Landrover place. It stood in the gateway to the field for a good few years until the scrapyard closed and was cleared and then it was pushed down into the field and abandoned where it now stands. I looked at it many times when it stood on the road, but I have never known it run.
I took this photo in Taunton years ago and I think this is the wrecker now in the field by Langdons.I wonder if the driver looked over or under the bonnet side
