Sacrifices of Tramping

a McDonald’s , I wish , I’ve got a bottle of water / mcvities apple pie flapjack for my tea and instead of my bed/ house like 99.9 % of the population do I’ve got a layby on the a14 tonight , if I was a dog they’d of taken me off the owner for cruety by now :smiling_imp:

How many suitable places have you passed in order to get your 15 hours in to the minute?

Exactly ! I had 2 parking spots in my sights tonight [emoji6]one was 2 hours further down the road than the other , but Birmingham traffic meant I went for second choice but still a tucked back lay by
Also. Wouldn’t of even made any where near my first drop tomorrow

Ehh bit embarrassing this but I’m well looking forward to love Island tonight…

Hand in your man card and pick your ■■■■■■ up on the way out!

Dipper_Dave:
Reef makes an interesting point though could he confirm if I’m now allowed to post my thread on ‘in cab masterbation’, twice rejected so far but I feel it’s a very important topic for truckers health both ladies and gentlemen. It does go hand in wrist with love islands long awaited return.

If its in the interest of health then it should be allowed!

It’s not the thread they object too - it’s the instructional video which accompanies it.

If you don’t wash it’s because you don’t want to, I can’t remember a time when I couldn’t get a wash even if sometimes it would be at my last drop of the day and I have done a bit of driving afterwards, likewise in the mornings if you’re parked up somewhere without washing facilities you can always find somewhere to stop and wash or wait until your first delivery/collection.

Harry Monk:
Very poor attempt, 2/10.

But 10/10 for your scoring

Oh, another thread where a let’s pretend driver tells everyone how terrible their job is. :unamused:

Worked out how to reverse an artic yet, day boy?

I am getting pretty good. Got one on a bay all by myself recently. All the wheels were within the lines and everything. I’m not one to brag usually but it was a special moment.

Tempted to nominate you for the pride of Britain awards for your top banter… “day boy” :grimacing: :grimacing: Who in their right mind wants to sleep in a house, eat propper food and have ■■■ with his Mrs when they can sleep in a tiny bed of a truck on their own all week?

Only on here could someone saying they prefer sleeping in their own home to sleeping at work be seen as trolling.

the only suitable place I can think of is my own bed , but because the other driver who was meant to change over with me decided to have a hours break on the way up to change over rather than when he got there I then couldn’t get home , so he got both barrels and some more ( I’d got his tri all loaded / strapped up for him ) , he couldn’t even be bothered to strap the curtains back , stow the straps away etc , I lost heart as I couldn’t get home and just called it a day at 13 hrs 15 mins
I’m sorry but it doesn’t matter where you sleep your sleeping in a Lorry, not your own house / bed , no food you can cook compares with your Mrs cooking , I told her I would be home so she had done a stew ( I love dumplings ) , mash tates , veg , rhubarb crumble and custard for afters , zb wasted because that ■■■■ decided to be a zb ■■■■■■■ , ■■■■■■■ , he’ll ■■■■■■■ pay :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: the lot of em can ■■■■ off

Thats because its a forum for truck drivers. And you might be surprised at how many do actually enjoy the tramping side of the job. Each to there own.You prefer to play at it.Wich is your choice.

I get bored of delivering to the same places day in day out ![emoji42][emoji42][emoji42] that’s why I do a tramping job [emoji6]
Last week I was in south Wales , Somerset , Devon ,Cornwall , Dorset then spent Thursday local to Southampton and Friday was a quick trip to twickenham then slough and back to Winchester
Today I’ve been to Eccles , Ramsbottom and now near Stafford enroute to sittingbourne in Kent

To add another quality post to trucknetuk I want to give a shout out to our road gypsies who keep general haulage going.

Trampers have to go through a lot. They have to sleep in tiny little tin boxes. They have to eat a diet consisting of pot noodles and McDonald’s. Their morning tea is made with powdered milk. They rarely can wash themselves or their clothes. It’s a job very few would choose to do.

For those that have never done it - imagine having underwear where it’s gone stiff from the crustiness built up over a week. The RSPCA save dogs from being locked in vehicles in the Summer - but trampers just have to endure it. Imagine your wife taking a garden hose to you in the garden before she lets you in the house.

But to add insult to misery they will be missing out on Love Island tonight

After “how many turns of the steering?” Then “how do you carry your digi card?” More verbal garbage from " Boy Blunder". If you don’t like our industry, or the people employed in it, instead of passing snide remarks on a subject you know next to nothing about, get out of it!! You certainly won’t be missed.

Well, if you are looking for a serious answer, I have visited Lenin’s mausoleum in Moscow, been around Dolbamache Palace in Istanbul and then gone across the Bosphorus on a passenger ferry, been up the Eiffel Tower at twilight, seen the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, spent numerous weekends laying on some beach or by a swimming pool in Spain, seen the Northern Lights in Sweden, been to the Celtic Festival in Lorient, spent a week at the White Nights festival in St Petersburg and been paid for doing all of it…

Oh, and believe it or not, you can get “propper” food in all of these places.

I’m going to stop now because I know that none of this will be as interesting to some spotty student as watching telly or going on the X-box.

at least I’ve got my box of wheatabix / fresh milk for my breakfast to look forward too :unamused:

and why would you want your own bath full of steAming hot water / radox when you can get the same result from morrisons fragrance free baby wipes :unamused:

What’s with layby parking, either snap, truck stop, ind-est, or somewhere out the way, definitely never a layby…

Sorry boys and girls.
I’ve just had a lovely dinner and a red hot shower.
Just getting ready to jump into this little beauty and settle down to Love Island.

I spent Dec-Feb in Premier Inns for work and I got fed up with the menu soon enough, fry ups everyday became boring. I was happy enough in my cab in Bingley town centre last night, after an 8hr day it was a swift trip to Wetherspoons and a pizza on the way back to the cab. No nights out now though till next Sunday and that will be a ferry cabin anyway so toilet/shower facilities en suite

I’ve done ok tonite ,parked in Hexham for free ,had a shower In the lesuire centre for a donation ,and been to weatherspoons ,it dosent have to be msa or truckstop or ■■■■ stinking lay bys , I’ve had plenty times when I’ve bathed in a mountain stream ,river or loch .
