And an “S” if you want to be pedantic about it
Since we’re all being so pedantic (thought the resident pedant had moved on?) Seems nobody else spotted its “on here” not “on hear” A very easy and common mistake.

Fighting has always been a sacking offence in the workplace.i know of a warehouse where 2 staff weren’t exactly fighting, both threw punches that failed to connect. One jacked and the other got away with it.
Fighting is how kids settle arguements, doesn’t solve anything in my eyes.I agree, last fist fight i had was in 1983 when I’d just left school. Waste of bloody time. I may make an exception though if anyone hurt my mrs or my dog.
Couple of guys where I work had a disagreement which was more like hand bags at dawn over a five pound note. Couple of punches thrown of which none conected.
One of em was seriously advised on several ocasions “not to take the issue further”, ie, involve managment and written statements etc as the other guy was willing to forget about it.
The [zb] would’nt listen and they were both sacked. Lost around 28 grand a year each and their pension! There’s not many firms that would put you on a non-contributary pension these days that can be taken away at will.
Taking away a pension that you’ve actually paid into however, goes by another name - theft by the firm!
At my place if you get sacked for gross missconduct which fighting is you would lose whatever the company had put towards your pensio
n in my case 16% a year

Nope. S/E and I have as little do do with other drivers as possible, apart from a few friends that do the job.

Was doing à changeover at carnforth when à driver from my company, (although i was agency) noticed and objected to my dog in the cab. I told him mind his own business, this driver then got in a blinding rage.Well, ill be honest, i was knocked on my arse.
not one of my finest moments in my career. The things i use to do for that cab mutt.
I would also object to a dog being In the cab If I had to share the truck (dayman/nightman), but I wouldn’t ‘fight’ you over It. I’d just report you to the boss & I wouldn’t take the truck out until all the dog-hair had been cleaned up…
If I was the Dog I would object to having to do 2 x 15 and 3 x 13’s without getting paid

on the big plan of life none of the above are worth more than a minutes thought, you have a job can pay the bills… doghair in the cab and youll grass a fellow driver up.jeessss. TF im out o the UK and working wi drivers again not bloody kids.
jimmy.hgv class of 81.I’m allergic to cats and dogs make my eyes swell up, difficult to breath, rash, itchy eyes, watering eyes etc etc I wouldn’t be able to drive it unless I knew beforehand and dosed up on tablets I’d crash no doubt about it

But I am not that pedantic due to fact I cant spell very well & know that so if someone spell something wrong not the end of the world but hate it when it is in text language as find that hard to read or when there are no paragraphs in a long post
But as they say people in glass housed shouldnt throw stones

you mean FF’sS…
Sounds like a rattlesnake sound effect like that.
I left a recent job, due to an “altercation” with a wannabe hard-man, finger raising taxi driver. Who subsequently realised that an unloaded Sprinter comfortably keeps up with an old Vectra. Then whinged to my ex boss because his bottle crashed after our “chat.”
Never been sacked though. But that was the old me.
There’s quite alot of old guys at my place who I have’nt got any time for. Some of them have got bad attitudes and think the world owes them something because they’ve been there longer than most, I just ignore them and don’t make eye contact when I walk past.
As for having a fight, I could’nt ever see that happening as I would’nt want to loose my job. Probably best to settle something away from work if you need to but in self defence at work, absolutely

Jimbo, Why Is It childish In your eyes to not put-up with working round another Driver & his dog’s ■■■■ & dog hair all day long.
So It’s best to ‘Put-up & Shut-up’ In your view ■■ Apparently It’s the 21st Century outside & times have moved on, not for the better,I might add.
Why on Earth would a Driver want to carry his Dog around all day (or Night) around with him (or Her) Is beyond me.
I too have a Dog, but I wouldn’t put him In the cab all day, having him rub his snottey nose & quill all over the place.
For one:
I like my Dog.
& 2:
Out of Respect for the other driver who has too take the truck over…
Just my 2 pence worth…

ok, thats your opinion and you read mine…but.
1.
its not your truck and if the boss dont mind, i know a couple o female drivers that have dogs for protection!,worked wi a couple o old boys that had a bad time during the war and having the dogs with them kept them sane(talking 2 them etc).
2.aye its the 21st century but in some parts its like the depression of the 20s Is it not a put up and shut up in some lower paid areas of the uk,plenty o people after their jobs.
3. ok ,the likes o a jack russell ,poodle, etc .but no a bloody big rottie.
4.i think dog hair is not to bad compaired to some things drivers do in cabs imo.
I think if you OWN the truck…Then you have the right to complain.
You can’t beat a good scrap…Have one most weekends
But i do play Rugby…

Two lads at my mates place have been finished for fighting, I say finished as one quit and the other was sacked. It all started as a bit of a misunderstanding as usual. One was told to take a unit to pick up a trailer, the unit was also to be used by the other for his night trunk. The night guy phoned him to ask how long he would be, the day guy didn’t like the way he was spoken to. It all escalated from there to fisticuffs outside the gate last Thursday.
It just got me thinking, they’ve both lost decent paying jobs, taking home around £500 a week, over something that could have been avoided, they didn’t even work the same shift. Is there anyone at your place you would lose your job over? Especially by fighting. Over the years I have worked with plenty I’ve have not liked or got on with, I just avoid them as much as possible.
FYI the jobs, and that of another that got sacked, he walked off the job and left the unit & trailer at a customers yard, have been posted on the jobs section.
Bit harsh getting sacked for a bit of fisticuffs outside the gate, imho.
Years ago a FLT driver at the place I was working just hated lorry drivers, had a pop at me,so I just laughed at him ( mad him madder ) he was spitting feathers, jumped off his FLT,lost balance and fell ■■■■ over breast everybody there was now laughing at him and he was offering all and sundry out
I left the job shortly after and a mate told me that he eventually got twotted and put in A&E by some Welsh trucker

Jimbo, I respect your opinion & the fact that a couple of females have dogs for their protection, but the question Is :
Do they have to share the truck with somebody else ( Day’s/ Night’s), or are they away from home ■■
If they’re away from home & nobody else shares the truck ( & the boss Is OK with It ) then I guess that’s OK.
With regard’s to It not being ’ Your’ truck. If Day & Night drivers treated the truck’s like they were their own (as In keeping them clean), then we wouldn’t be having this disscusion…
If a ‘Boss’ start’s shouting " They’re’s plentey of other drivers out there who’ll drive It" , then that guy doesn’t deserve to be In business… Respect runs both ways. If he treats you right , You’re more likely to look after His Vehicle’s…
My opinion anyway…
I had a couple o bosses over the yrs that tried the im the boss do as i say or else ,never spent much time wi them but my mates back in the uk are saying there is more and more firms acting like this.
and both ladies are on distance work over here and when they get back to base the trucks are used for city work unless they need worked on.
Just to add it was in the morning and it started in the yard then ended up outside and both drivers I believe were still clocked on so employer would of had every right to get involved.
I wouldn’t even bother getting into a fight at or outside of work as its just not worth it.
