Sacked for comments on Facebook

I’ve never been on Facebook but I have recieved some emails from “nice” girls who have seen my profile on it & think I’m hot!

eagerbeaver:
Good timing this post-we have just had to sign a form declaring that no employee of our business shall use social media to portray a negative view of the business, otherwise the disciplinary process will be used.

In view of this,i make the following comments.

P&H at Haydock ,is a dreadful place to be employed at.

“Is a dreadful place at which to be employed” surely?

Looks like we have an English teacher amongst us.

Prey tell kind sir,how can one please thee?

Keep my bad comments about my current place strictly in the yard with other drivers.
I don’t post anything directly related to work on FB.

You could go down the route that your profile is set to private and that any comments you make are of a private nature and your opinion (this bit negates any future slander case) then you need to inform them that as they have invaded your privacy, you are now feeling harassed which has caused you undue stress.
This will lead you to be off work with full pay while they work out how to dismiss you fairly. At this point it is important that you become a hermit and not provide evidence of you having a right old jolly time at their expense.

This free time will give you time to source a new job by using social media to vet the potential employer, any that have no one slagging them off will be struck off the list as you like to have a good old chuckle with your mates about the people who pay your wage.

Or just say nothing on faceache that you wouldn’t say to your boss when you are in his office - #simples

H.

Oh, as for sacking you by what you put online, depends what it is you say and even then they will have to prove a loss (not difficult really so the above applies)

:bulb: like it,

My FB is for my real friends and ex-colleagues. Not even my wife is connected to me on there.
Keep my few posts vague, no-one has complained.
Paul

if you do get sacked then maybe you will find a job that doesnt give you a lot to moan about

It’s very simple. nothing on Facebook is private regardless of your settings. There will always be those who are happy to share your posts and comments. My Facebook is filled with nonsense, sarcasm, ■■■■ taking and general drivel. I don’t have any of the office staff from any job on thereand I’m very selective about drivers I work with either now or in the past. I have still had stuff shared from my wall or pm’s I’ve sent so I never put anything I wouldn’t mind the world knowing and I keep the important stuff private and offline

If i want to slag the boss or the company then i,ll do it to her face not on faceache or bebo or chatsnap or instant gram

This happens a lot over here in Canada I have had at least 2 friends sacked for slagging/ saying where they are loading etc. off certain companies…Its not just the big companies either that check the internet for company mentions.
I say to newbies if you must use FB keep one account in your name and another with your REAL friends only no workmates under another name . james

Looks like an English teacher is not a bad idea!

Pray tell kind sir, how can one please thee?
