On my 3 rd 15 plate of late and if you washed the first 2 they came up as new , but this one , similar age ,mileage etc is covered in rust on wheels, trims etc .
Wouldn’t of thought it would of been washed any different to previous two so has it been stood on docks etc ,it’s covered 97 k so would of thought it would still be as new Thoughts ,ta
Should still be like new. HJ DAF CF 64 plates with over 200,000km on are rust free, still have silver wheels with no rust and only the ally tanks show any sign of age - well those which don’t get polished. However the ones that HJ have outbased at Scotland and Portbury and run by Wincanton drivers where they don’t seem to ever see a wash are looking in a right state but thats muck, not rust.
62 plate Premium, only ever washed (not very well) at the weekends. Covered in salt and road crap but no rust as of yet…

True but it least its not rusting!
Some take a pride in their vehicles and work, some don’t, salt left on to do its worse will do its worse in a very short time, ably assisted by excessive brake dust by those think they are driving cars not lorries.
We have 62 plate vehicles around the 450/550k kms mark that are in better overall condition than some 14/64 platers.
Rust on the wheels are normally caused by tyre fitters knocking lumps out of the rims. I’ve only ever seen one tyre fitter put the rim on an old bit of spray flap to stop the paint getting scratched against the ground when changing the tyre. The rest don’t seem to give a toss, resulting in rusty wheels.[emoji35]

You’re not treating them right, i keep my alloys well…yes sad i know … whether i call in at the tyre workshops or happen to have to call them out, always make the lad(s) a cuppa whilst they’re doing the job whatever the time of day or night, result? my wheels go on a rug/pad and great care is taken on the wheel edges so the levers don’t scrape…got to look after the tyre lads…and they also sort my car tyre fittings etc at mates rates…

Quite right too! First thing I do when a tyre fitter come out to me is offer to make him a brew. Or any other call out service for that matter, unless he’s a ■■■■■ then I don’t bother
Quite right Conan, everyone gets a brew.
Least you can do when someone’s sorting your problems out.
